I have a lot of static. Is this normal for Sirius? How do I fix it or should I just deal with it or cancel my service?

DH and I both have sirius and we don't have any static in our radios at all. Have you tried changing the channel and the settings on the radio? :confused3

We don't have any static either, but I'd try moving the receiver or whatever that's called (the thing you put in the window to pick up the signal). We don't get reception at all unless it's in exactly the right location. Good luck!

You shouldn't have any static. Go to Best Buy or another electronic store and ask them, or have them check it out. If it is a factory installed unit, take it to the dealership and have them check it.

No, don't have static. It may be how the connection is or where on the car the receiver is.

Mine does not have static either. What setup are you running?

Is it in a car, portable or home setup?
If it is a car, is it a dashboard device? How does it connect to the car radio? Using the fm transmitter or through a cable.

I could not get a good signal with the fm transmitter. I used the cassette deck adapter and it was much more clear and louder too.

then when DW got me the stalleto II I got it hardwired to the radio for even better sound.

We have a Sirius that came installed in our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. It came with 12 months of free service, and all I can say about that is you get what you pay for.

The radio would be extremely staticy at times. The best way I can describe it is we would get in the car and turn the key on and the Sirius would either be crystal clear or so staticy it was not enjoyable to listen to. It didnt matter if the car was out in the open where the antenna had a clear signal. The radio didn't work probably half the time.

I called the Dodge dealership and they said call Sirius. I called Sirius and they would give me bone headed advice like the radio wouldn't get a signal if it was inside a garage. Well, duh! I'm not an idiot. :headache: After the useless advice, they would tell me to call Dodge and the cycle would start again. :headache:

Dh finally installed an XM in the van for me because we've had XM since day 1. We forgot that we even had Sirius in there. About a year after the 12 month membership ended, I accidentally flipped it on there one day and it had service. The reception was crystal clear. Dh likes to listen to the NFL stuff on there, and we've had this unexplained service for about a year now.

Whatever static problems we were having in the beginning are not there anymore. :confused3 Weird. I know.

Now after saying all that, I bought dh a Sirius receiver and boombox so he could listen to the NFL programming while at home. He's never had any problems with that one.

Are you using the FM receiver? I had a static problem because finding a free station in my area. Once I hard wired my receiver - static gone

If you are listening through an FM station, you may need an FM relay switch. This will turn off your FM antenna when your Sirius is on. They have them at Best Buy.

But if you got i installed somewhere, I would take it to them and have them look at it.

It sounds like you need a direct connect FM relay. The FM transmitter in your unit is too low powered to get good reception.

If you call Sirius customer service they usually give you this part for free and send you an installation card.

I had Sirius since last June. No problems...UNTIL today.

I too had static this afternoon in the car, also when I played thru the PC...the sound came & went.

I just think this was a temporary thing today. It is working fine tonight
