Sirius Radio ?

I signed up last year for 1 year for $77 & was calling to cancel before it renewed at the full price of $160! I asked for account retention asked if the deal could be extended to which the CS Rep replied, "No." I simply told him, "Then just cancel my service." He was very quick to state, "OK, we can renew for $77." I put a reminder in my phone calendar to call before it renews again at the full rate!

I have been getting the 5 months for $20 for the last 3 times that I was going to cancel. Mine is up again in a few weeks so I will see if they give me that again. If not I will cancel and see what happens.

Our service just ran out due to a change in our credit card and Sirius couldn't renew. I called them to cancel. They said OK. At the end he ran through the routine - "We are cancelling you as of today since you did not accept any of our offers." I said, "You didn't offer me anything." He then came through with the $77 per year, but after all the taxes, etc. it came up to $90.01. Since my husband listens all the time, I agreed. By the time they charged the credit card they had added another $3. Supposedly they are going to take off that $3. So far, they took off $1. :confused3

Well, I am totally addicted to satalite radio. Had a year free on both cars and bought the lifetime service w/up to 3 transfers on both. I think the lifetime fee was $300 for each.

My husband just bought me a new car 2 days ago, and I have 3 months free. We never had this before, nor have our friends and family. Didn't know what the monthly fee was. My husband asked if I wanted to renew and if I knew the cost. I said no, I never looked into it. He asked how much is too much, I said no more than $59.99 (I always give prices LOL). He was shocked! haha He thought that was too high! To me, it is worth $2 a day. LOL So I did a quick search and found out it was $12.95, of course both of us were VERY happy with that price. Now to see, I can get it cheaper, that is GREAT! Happy I found this thread. :)

I've been getting that plan too for the last two years. Today I called to renew and they said they do not have the $20 for 5 months anymore :confused3

She wanted to charge me $40 for 3 months :scared1:

I'm going to try calling back another day

I just called the other day also. My $20 for 5 months was up and they wanted to charge me $68 for six months. I told them that I was not interested at that price. She brought it down to $48 for six months. Still not interested, willing to cancel. She then offered three months for free.

I just called yesterday and found out that my account actually has a credit of $7 now!

I'll definitely be calling back in three months and finding out if they'll offer another promo rate. I've never been offered the $77 for a year, I've gotten the 5 for $20 the last few years....

OP - we were int he same boat - except we got 6 months for free :rolleyes1

However, I was not going to renew because they wouldn't budge on the price and we listen to both music and talk - so the either/or package wouldn't work for us.

SO much to the dismay of my wife - I just let it expire.

Well, the next week I was out of town on business and they called to offer 1 year at 1/2 price. So my wife jumped at the offer - so we are good for another 12 months.

They also have a lifetime offer- but it's $500 I think - and you can make payments - BUT - it's only for as long as you own the car - NOT your lifetime

I wish! :)

Anyway, they should be calling you soon with incentive offers.

Just wait - they want customers - they will call with a better offer! :wizard:

I've had the lifetime plan for about 3 years now. I didn't pay $500 but I also have 3 free transfers. You might want to check if there are any transfers included.

Same thing happened to me last month so I cancelled. With in a week I had an offer for $20 for 5 months in the mail.

I was paying full price for two radios because our discounts had expired many months ago and I never got around to calling. So I called a couple of weeks ago and said I wanted to cancel them both. In my personal experience, the magic words are "I like it, but I don't listen to it enough to justify the expense." :goodvibes I ended up getting $70 something for a year on the one I actually wanted to keep, and 3 months free on the one we actually wanted to cancel. :thumbsup2

i LOVE and am totally addicted to satellite radio ~ i had it for three months free in my new car -- LOVED not having to listen to all the crappy commercials or the election ads -- so worth it!! the kids love the Disney channel - don’t have to worry about inappropriate morning talk in between their favorite pop songs, I got them down to $70.00 for the year which included the best of XM (needed it for the sports stations!! LOVE to listen to the NHL games) I have been happy with it!!!

Usefulness definitely varies by how much you drive. I am in my car 2+ hours a day, so having a steady stream of quality music channels is worth $12 a month to me.

I am a huge indie music fan, and there is just no local substitute for Sirius XMU, so it is worth it to me just for that channel in both of my cars. But if you are a music fan in general, you will get so much more enjoyment and variety out of the radio than you can get over the air.

Mine expired at the beginning of February and we have received at least one letter a week and/or email with deals as low as $77 a year, so let it expire if you don't get the deal you want...they will send better offers.... :)

I let ours expire too and within a week or two there was a letter in the mail. I was going to renew but forgot, again came another letter cheaper than the first. I think I ended up with $88 for the year. I guess I could have waited a little longer.

Guess the tip is, let it expire and wait them out...

We called back in Dec when we were due to pay our renewal fees and told them it wasnt in our budget anymore and just disconnect. Well they supossedly disconnected but the music kept coming. They called once a week for over a month until I got very angry and said a few words and told them not to call. We got a letter for $25 for 5 or 6 months but we trashed it. Here it is right at 6 months we still have Sirius. No phone calls from them in 4 months and I logged into my account with them and has 0 balance due. We loved it when we used to drive quite a bit but now that fuel costs has increased we dont drive much anymore and dont need it.

We have had it in our new Sienna van now for free for about a year. They never cut it off after the 90 days freebie. Hope the new updates on 5/4/11 do not make it go away.

The lifetime plan went up to $699 on Feb 1st. I know this because I purchased it on Jan 28th for $499 but when my free trial ended on Feb 6th they billed my credit card the $699 plus taxes and fees for well over $800:scared1:

I can also confirm that the customer service is the WORST I have ever dealt with. Even with the email confirmation with the correct price faxed and email to them many times they would not admit or correct their mistake.

The nice folks over at Disney Visa (Chase) were able to straighten it out for me and I eventually got a $225 refund but it was such a headache I'm sorry I every subscribed.

Now I'm going out to reset all my preset chanels since they renumbered everything today....

Now I'm going out to reset all my preset chanels since they renumbered everything today....

I expected to have to do the same thing this morning.

But to my surprise, all the presets "migrated" by themselves, to their new numbers. Haven't had to change a thing, yet.

I've been a lifetime subscriber for several years (I did mine through the pre-merger XM) -- I paid much less than the $500 that was quoted on this thread.

I'm the same as the PP. My wife is an "Elvis" fan (now CH.# 19 !) and couldn't live without it. Sunday is her "house-cleaning" day... she cleans, does the laundry, etc., while I cut the grass and do yardwork.... My thought was, if that's what makes her happy while she's cleaning, it's well worth the money ! And way-back-when, I had originally purchased a three-year subscription, and we were heading into the second year, when I inquired into purchasing "life-time", (which truly is life-time for those of us who bought-in back then) and they pro-rated the life-time fee, and it ended up costing me $171 and change ! It's one of those things that you just don't miss... until it's gone !

Well I'm glad i called to see if I could get it lowered. Dropped my payment from 78 every 3 months to a promotional rate $50 for 5. (for 2 radios) :goodvibes

I have a new car with Siruis XM. I don't recall getting any paperwork about it. No prices, plans, etc. How did they contact you?
