HI!!
I want to get DH Sirius service for Christmas, but when I look at the site, I am lost. I thought it was only for the car then it seems like some can go in and out of the car.?????????????????????????? They discuss recording programming and lots of other things which I'm confused about. Can anyone give me a simple rundown on the types of units??? Is there a basic one that can be used in the can and in the house?? It looks like the service is 12.95/month. Any help would be appreciated as the countdown to Christmas continues. Also has anyone gotten a deal on Sirius say form Best Buy or Circuit City??

Thanks-

Well last year I got this for dh and he LOVES it! I bought the Boom box*for the house and the one that just snaps into the boom box and attatches to the car. So I had to buy the car thing and the boom box to get it to play both in the car and home-
But now they sell a live portable unit- but I have heard not so good.*ipod with satelite capability.... but not strong enough I have heard...
By taping they mean that the portable in the past was not live- in other words you would "tape" a show like Howard Stern and then could listen to it later on the device...

We use our Sirius receivers in the cars only. You can buy accessories like the boom box or we had one that could be hooked up to your regular stereo at home. We never bothered with taking the receivers in the house because with your account you can listen online at no extra charge. We also have Direct TV and can listen to Sirius through the TV. :thumbsup2

I don't know much. I just know that suddenly, on Monday night of this week, DH decided that he must have one for Christmas. We researched online and in the stores and today I got him this one at Circuit City

He is getting this Stiletto 100. It is portable. If you buy the car kit on the same receipt at Best Buy or Circuit City, you get $70 rebate on the car kit (it cost $69.99 I think). I think you can do this online through Sirius and other places too. Best Buy was out of the car kits and had none in the warehouse to order for me. None online through them either. But our Circuit City had them (online too). I am not sending the rebate off until after Christmas when we know it works ok. It is rather pricey compared to others it seems ($349).

Does your DH just want it for the car, or would he like the capability to bring it inside? The older Stilettos just recorded live radio that you could then bring inside, not truly portable. The 100 is. We talked to locals who said this model works well here. I guess service varies by city.

I know nothing about the others, and nothing more about Sirius in fact! It all kind of drove me a little bit crazy. Good luck!
