Hey guys-i posted last week about going to the dr and finding out i had an "involved" siinus infection..
well i have been on meds and doing everythign the dr said (drinking alot, vicks, hot showers..) and im not getting any better....im going to be calling tomorrow but i wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how to feel a bit better tonight--
i get dizzy when i move....im very nauseous and havent really eaten in 3 days, my face is still swollen...basically, im miserable!

any ideas??

Also, she said if it lasts for awhile, she might send me to the hospital..what will they do there? just IV antibiotics? I HATE hospitals so i want to be prepared if thats what she tells me tomorrow..thanks

It sounds like it's more then a sinus infection, I hope you feel better real soon! :grouphug: :wizard:

I'm prone to getting them and have always been better after a week when the antibiotics are used up. Sounds like the antibiotics aren't working. Doc should try something stronger. Don't know why you would need hospital though. :confused3 With the right meds you should feel better in a couple of days, even if taken by mouth. Seems that IV antibiotics are a bit much, but I'm not a Doc. Hope you feel better soon! :wizard:

My DD who is now 14 used to get them badly a few years back when she was about 7 or so. Had to be on 6 weeks antibiotics (sometimes switching them around to find one that would work) and then low dose "maintenance" antibiotics also steroid nasal sprays. Also decongestants and sometimes Flonase. As soon as the treatment was done she would be sick again a week later. And the then the whole cycle began again.

I know it sounds silly to some, but I was working for a chiropractor at the time and my daughter began to get daily adjustments and wouldn't you know it- It cured her for the most part, something about subluxations in the top portion of the spine. I'm not sure of exactly how it works and if it works for everyone but it worked for her. Now instead of 6 or eight time a year, she has possibly 1 or sometime no sinus infections at all the whole year since then. I know its too late for that now but when you are feeling better it probably is worth a shot. In any case, keep drinking all the fluids you can, I don't know if heat or cold feels better for you, but when I have a problem usually cold feels good on my face. Hope your feeling better soon. :wave2:

Forgot to add; a hot moist washcloth followed by saline spray w/menthol usually makes me feel better for awhile. :)

The particular antibiotic you have probably is not working for this infection, and you need a new one. I have had that happen. The more "common" of an antibiotic you are taking, the more likely that is to be the case.

Well a good old fashioned CT scan or MRI is a great way to figure out how bad it is. That is probably what she is talking about would be my guess.

Not being able to eat for 3 days sounds pretty sick. I hope you get some better info tomorrow.

Most of your symptoms sound like the ones I had, tried Prednisone 5 day packs twice, Leviquin for 10 days, Augmentin, but nothing worked/ I even flushed out my sinuses with a saline solution, which did provide some temporary relief - what I did end up getting was a tube in my left ear - at 59!!! This was just 2 weeks ago after 3 1/2 months of feeling as you do!What a relief to hear clearly again and no more fullness around my face or in my sinuses. My doctor did mention, after a CAT Scan, that sometimes there are polyps or small cysts near the Eustachian tube that can cause this discomfort. Hoping you find comfort soon.

thanks everyone...ill be calling early tomorrow since i already told my professors i will not be in class tomorrow...hopefully ill get some answers!

I hope you're feeling better soon. I've been sick for 2 months right now, and finally went to the doctors on Saturday. I've got the severe conjestion, dizzyness, coughing, hacking, etc... life hasn't been fun. Well they diagnosed me with Acute Bronchitis, but he heard something in my lungs and is worried about pneumonia, so he wants me to have a chest Xray tomorrow. Joy o joy

I had the same problem from November - January. Levaquin made me really sick - Prednisone finally worked - combined with Flonase. It took forver - and I'm still not 100%, but much better....

Thanks-I am still feeling miserable and i went to the dr again today for the 3rd time in 6 days..she said that she wants me to wait a few more days to see how the antibiotics work but this is a pain..she told me i cant do classes and work for this entire week unless i miraculously feel better..
luckily, all my professors have been really nice and my boss was great today when i called...
thanks for all the help
