Hi All,

Just a question about the weather mid Sept... As we will be heading out of the end of an Australian winter it's a bit hard to get our heads around the fact I don't need to pack our tracksuit pants & jackets etc. Can someone please set my mind at ease & tell me it will be hot when we are there?? It's so cold here today I can't believe next month we will be feeling the heat!!

Thanks so much :)

We went at the end of September and it was stinking hot! We spent a lot of time in the pool at our hotel, in The Haunted Mansion (because it has air con!) and eating Mickey ice-creams. We wore shorts and t-shirts the entire time and our faces are bright red in quite a few photos. And I'm from Melbourne and have lived on the Gold Coast, so do have some idea of what heat is!

Here are some quotes from the trip journal that I wrote as an 8 year old:
- 28 September: 'It's very hot in LA.'
- 29 September: 'It was very hot so we ran in the fountain in Tomorrowland.'
- 30 September: 'Since it was over 103*F Mummy said that we could go swimming while she checked out of our room.'

So, yes! Chances are it will be very hot!

Weather in LA can be an unpredictable thing. Historical temperature ranges have gone from 51F (10.6C) to 109F (42.8C). According to Weather.com, average temperatures in September range from the mid-60's (17.8C) to the upper-80's (30.6C).

I think tank tops and shorts will probably be okay, but I would bring a light weight wind breaker/jacket with me just in case it gets cool at night (or more-commonly, right around sunset).

I would wait until its closer to decide what to bring, but shorts and tanks will most likely be ok.

We have gone the last 2 years in mid to late September. It has always been HOT. we never wore pants, and I only wore a hoody a couple of times, but I tend to get cold easily, whereas the rest of my family only wore shorts and tshirts. For perspective, we are from northwest canada.

We went in mid Sept. in 2011 and in 2012, then went in July 2013. Both September trips were warmer than July during the day, but cooled down in the evening. Also, it was dark earlier in the evening in September. It will likely be VERY hot in September during the day, but bring one long sleeved shirt and possibly long pants for the evening if you are staying late (and if the parks close late.)

We've been a couple of times in mid/late September; it's been hot both times. I would still pack some sweatshirts for the evenings (just in case), but plan on summer clothing. Looking back at our picts, I see one of my DD's wearing a light sweatshirt one evening (the rest of us in the pict are in short sleeves) and the other wearing a light scarf wrap another evening (again, others in the photo are in short sleeves). I see a lot of picts of us wearing tank tops!

I agree with the sentiment that it will most likely be warm or hot, but I also agree that the weather can be unpredictable (between September and December anything could happen).

I live in Los Angeles (about 45 minutes from Disneyland). In Septembers past -- and I am just talking about over the last decade, not counting anytime prior to that -- we have had extreme heat waves (like in 2010, for example, when it was over 115 degrees in Disneyland during one particular week); overcast, gloomy, warm and humid weather (like in 2011); dry, windy weather (contributing factors in wildfires when combined with heat)....and intermittent heavy rain (like in 2007). Other days/weeks might be in the 80-degree range, or in the 90's, or in the 70's.

You'll probably be fine with shorts and tank tops, but keep an eye on Accuweather or some website like that, with good extended forecasts, to get a sense of whether or not the weather is changing drastically when you are not expecting it to!

I often say that September is a month that is confused -- it can't really decide if it wants to be summer or fall (and, in fact, it is both), so sometimes it takes on a more definite summer-ish role and other years it takes on a more fall-like role!

Thankyou all so much for the great feedback :)

We'll go prepared with a couple of light jackets & if it's any colder I guess we'll just have to go shopping :rolleyes1

I honestly don't think you'll have to shop for anything warmer, but I love your attitude;), "will shop", if forced to:eek:!
