Nice! Steak and eggs - haven't had that in some time. I often used to walk to BC in the morning for coffee when the Marketplace opened at 6am. Everywhere else was later. That was my first stop on my way around the Lake. Next would be Swan for something from Java for later in the day. With 6am openings it was still easy enough to make it to Animal Kingdom by opening, ride the Safari, visit the Gorillas and Tigers and be back at BWV by 10:30ish.

Keep enjoying your vacation and showing us the highlights!

"If the service is free, you are the product."

$50/year does not seem outrageous if one uses the site regularly. However, I'm going to be very miffed if, after paying, my posts are still auto-edited to insert links that I did not put there.

I pay $25/year for an ad-free www.coasterbuzz.com, but that's partly becuase that site would probably not exist without the people who pay for it, because it is not a large enough community to sustain itself on ad revenue, and I want to support the proprietor. That also nominally gives me the ability to sign up for enthusiast events but I haven't been to one of those since before the lockdown, and each year fewer parks have them.

I don't remember what I paid for TourGuideMiKE each year, but that had gotten to the point where I was paying just to be part of the community, because the TGM folks were my peeps until the site finally died. I would have paid Josh/EasyWDW, for the same reason, but he never had a paid option other than "buy the book."

I pay $25/month for ad-free/privacy-preserving search on kagi.com, plus metered access to a variety of LLMs that I can use without having them harvest my text for training purposes. Highly recommended. They also built the browser I use by default (Orion) which is also a privacy-first product. It works on about 95% of the web sites I visit, and getting better as time goes on.

And that's consistent with my media consumption generally. I pay for SiriusXM ($3/month!) for ad-free/human-programmed music, and I buy the ad-free tiers when I am signed up for a streamer. And I throw $100/year at my local public radio station wemu.org.

Good morning, Brian. I hope you have a good day!

One more comment on the DIS supporter thing:

Apparently, when I bought my plan, it was set up to auto-renew. It was not clear to me that that would happen, though it is entirely possible that that is because I did not read carefully enough. But, I did not see a way to opt out of automatic renewal. I'm really not a big fan of such arrangements, so I have asked if it is possible to "cancel" but keep my ad-free experience through the end of the purchased term.

This sounds like exactly how we enjoyed vacationing prior to kids!

I have not personally found the site unusable with ads. Annoying? Yes. But not unusable. I mean, I’ve posted plenty on here on both on my phone and my MacBook and I’ve never used an ad blocker. Sure, the ads on mobile are annoying and there are occasionally times when it has gotten glitchy on my laptop, but it was never so much that I just said the heck with it.

I've had a lot of trouble on my phone. So much so that it can definitely be unusable. It should NOT be that way.

Which raises a fun question of sorts: how many of us think we would have never taken the plunge in the first place without disboards holding our hands?

(Not to even mention how many have been, shall we say, “encouraged,” when adding on.)

Yes, I would have still made my initial VGC purchase without the Dis and my BRV purchases as well.

But the one thing that may have been different without the Dis would be my VDH purchase. I honestly really didn't consider it much and was just going to purchase more VGC. But some people talking about VDH in a thread I started made me change my mind a lot. As well as just hearing people's experiences at VDH.

In other news, I just finished reading Disney Files and I want the Disney Vacation Club keychain advertised as being for sale at Disneyland Resort at Acorn Gifts & Goods at Disneyland's Grand Floridian Hotel and Spa.
Geez my son was reading in the backseat going through all the cool facts but he didnt mention new merch!

Anyone west coasters planning to do a photo session at DCA?

https://dvcnews.com/dvc-program-men...t-disney-california-adventure-for-dvc-members

I wouldn't mind giving it a try in June. We never get photopass so literally all of our family photos on Disney trips are just group selfies.

But would it be weird to do this in just our regular theme park clothes while we are sweaty and gross? I really would just like some non-selfie group pics for once, even if we look like crap.

Well, I caved and bought the annual plan. DH calls it mental health money, same as I called toll road charges when I was commuting 70 miles a day. I think $50 will be less than those toll road charges were before I retired.

It didnt warn you upon sign up. It warned in the conformation email after. I assumed it was auto renew but didn't dive into how I would go about cancelling if I decide I dont need it

I do think if I am paying for a service we should not have links xxx out, if they are I should know why. And just now after I typed that realize you meant like when I type that I bought something on Amazon or if I mention point charts.

Edit: seems the links have remained. Edit again. After I edited they went away. and then came back. haha
