No matter what, i cant get any seat at the table service restaurants in Magic Kingdom on the 9/18 or 9/22.

If i were in a party of 2 or more, i would be able to get a table, but as a single, no chance in h...

Disney is blocking out the singles on purpose.

You might want to look at the answers on the thread "Changing Party Size."

Yeah i know, i can pretend im in a party of 2 or more.

I just simply cant bring myself to do that. I would then have to tell the servers, over and over, that: My ..... could not make it, so there will only be me!

I guess Disney will soon realise they have a problem here, because more and more will do just that.

Singles will turn up with a reservation for 2 and only be 1

Partys of 3 people will turn up with a reservation for 4 and only be 3

I made several reservations (online) for one that I used on my trip last week. These reservations were at the following: California Grill, Le Cellier, Coral Reef, and Flying Fish. All the reservations were honored. So it's probably not that they have NO reservations for singles...just that they don't get a lot of singles and they don't open a lot of tables for that booking.

It's your choice if you don't want to book as a party of two, but with the current availability you are seeing, that may be the only way for you to get the reservations of your choice, because Disney works with majority rule and parties of 2 are far more common than parties of 1, so there will be more of that type of reservation available. As a single, if any of the restaurants you want have a lounge, a lot of the lounges attached to a restaurant serve the full restaurant menu and I have never had a problem getting a seat in the lounges. (This will not happen in MK - there are no bars there.) I do not know whether or not the lounges will accept DDP as payment though, if you have DDP.

There are only five TS restaurants in the Magic Kingdom (not counting the overflow buffet at Diamond Horseshoe) and you are trying very late in the game. Have you considered resort restaurants in the Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian or even Wilderness Lodge? These resorts are easily accessible from the Magic Kingdom.

I don't know if it is Disney or something in the new computer system, but any party that doesn't exactly match a table size seems to be having problems. Hopefully it is a glitch that they correct soon rather than a deliberate effort to fill every seat by shutting out groups that would have an empty seat at the table.

Doesn't a party of 1 get the same size table as a party of 2? Have you seen any tables in any restaurant for one person?

When I put in for Captain's Grille for breakfast for 1, I was told they were booked. Putting in two they gave me two seating times. I went ahead and made it for two. Maybe DH will come, but he's not big on breakfast. But I think that's pretty crappy for them to do that to singles.

I would just make the reservation for 2. And if they asked me about it, I'd say that the only way I could get a table was if I put 2 for the reservation. I'd let them know how I thought about it too. You shouldn't be denied a reservation because you are dining alone.

I'm not sure why you won't book a table for 2. If you go in as a single they are going to put you at a table for 2. By booking it that way you are not reserving any more space than you would get anyway.

I wouldn't lie about it at the podium. I'd simply say that it was impossible to book a reservation for 1 so you did it this way.

I have reservations for one in the Magic Kingdom Crystal Palace

9/24 at 0830
9/29 at 1000
10/2 at 1540

and at The Plaza
9/27 1140

Managed to get everything I wanted apart from Tusker house breakfast on 10/4 but couldn't get that even with 2 people.

The only places I couldn't book a table for one were Kona and Boma so I booked tables for two. When I arrive I'll just tell them that the online system didn't allow me to book for one. There is no reason to lie.

i believe both of those nights are MNSSHP nights, that will impasct availabity

you also do not have tomake explanations, mr denmark? party of 2? Yes, but there will be just 1 tonight. No further explanation required

I don't think it is personal, i think the programming is set to match exact number of diners to table size. I consider it a defect and work accordingly. I am often a party of 3 for my party of 2 :)

My thoughts exactly. I have never seen a table for one. Usually there is a table for two and they may take away one of the chairs, so if you are a single, expect to be seated at a table that can seat two. It isn't cheating the system or anyone else to book a two person table.

Just like a three person group will be seated at a table that can seat four.

Also, I found I couldn't get all the ADR's online when my 90+10 day opened up. Yak and Yeti wasn't available AT ALL, PERIOD. The other TS I got were not exactly at the times I wanted, but close. I called by phone after about 45 minutes of frustration and the CM was able to get me Yak and Yeti (she didn't know why it wasn't working online) and she was able to change the ADR's I got to times closer to what I originally wanted.

Since you are out of country, I realize this may not be an option to call overseas. But my point is, the online system has a LOT of flaws. You are going to have to work around them. I am an honest person but taking a "two" person ADR when you are a single is NOT cheating ANYONE! As mentioned, if you could get a CM to make the reservations for you, you would still be seated at the SAME size table, the second chair may or may not be there. They can easily take that second chair away and set it aside or use it elsewhere for a larger party if that makes you feel better.

There are rules (which are rigid, everything in life is black and white) and there are principles - whereby you try to do the right thing in a given situation. I think you are trying to do what is right but carrying it a little too far. Book the two person ADR's, NO one is going to find fault with it. And on these boards, if anyone thought you were doing wrong, trust me, you would definitely hear from them. (no flames please, I don't have anyone in particular in mind)

And regarding what to say when you check in, just tell the CM the truth. The system would not let you book a single so you had to book for two. They will understand and it just won't be an issue.

THANK YOU! Over the years, I've made a number of reservations for two. When I appear, it's "actually it's just me". No one thinks twice about it, there's no issue. And if someone did give me a snarky look, I'd ignore them.

The only time it matters is at CRT, where I have to remember to call back to cancel one of the spots to get my deposit back.

:confused3 This thread has me confused??

1.) You only have 1 server per meal so you would only have to tell them ONE time that you are dining alone. Simple.

2.) There is no such thing as a 1 seat table at any table service venue that I have ever been to so reserving a table for 2 that is really only a party of 1 is absolutely no big deal.
You are downsizing your party not increasing it which is never a problem.

Make your ADR's and enjoy your meals.

1.) If you travel as a single, staying more than one day at WDW, you will dine several times during a trip. And if you have to make TS reservations and pretending your a party of 2 people to get a reservation, you would then have to tell the servers at all the restaurants you have booked for your entire vacation, that you are only 1 for dinner or lunch, even though you hold a reservation for 2.

Ofcause you can so that a few times! But to do that, over and over, is just not me.

2.) Ofcause there is no such thing as a table for 1. Disney will make less money when a single sits at a table meant for 2 people. Maybe its just a flaw in the current booking system, that singles has a hard time making a dinner reservation online. I hope it gets fixed soon. Maybe its depending on which restaurant an individual tries to book. Some restaurants has less small tables than others.

PS! Nice picture of you :flower3:

You could always go the humor route:

You: Hi, party for 2 please.
Waiter: What would you like to drink?
You: I will take a water. Mike, what would you like? Just pretend like there is someone else with you.

They'll either cart you away in the looney cart or they will laugh!!

it is totally up to you Denmark, work within Disney's convaluted system or dine offsite or CS. All your choice :)

Have a great trip! :cool1:

It is a non-issue with servers, you'll inform the host or hostess at the podium when you check in. Your server will immediately know that you're a party of one, because that's how the host/hostess will seat you. :goodvibes

What you do is up to you, you're aware of the system parameters, and know that you can be seated at your restaurants if you reserve for two and show up for one. Whether you choose to do this or not is entirely up to you.
