Single vs Multiple Contracts: Any booking issues?

We are about to purchase 250 points direct. I was thinking of splitting it into 2 contracts of 150 and 100, to give us the option of selling off the 100 pt contract down the road (or devising the 2 among the kids in a will).

Are there any issues/complications to consider when booking, banking, or borrowing with two separate contracts (same resort/same UY) versus a single one? I know that splitting a single purchase into two contracts will mean double closing costs.

Appreciate any feedback from people who've either done this or wished they'd had. Thanks!

This is something Disney IT handles well, I know, shocking. It's pretty much a non-issue in the booking system.

Our 300 points are split into two contracts. Other than having to click two boxes instead of one, when I need points to be taken from both contracts, there aren’t any difficulties at all.

I think your thinking to split up the contracts is spot on.

Contracts for the same home resort and UY in the same membership work as though they are one big contract for booking purchases. You just check both and it will use all the points you need.

I assume the same applies if you bought the first 150 points direct to get blue card then added more points through resale all being same use year and resort?

Yes- Same title, resort, UY contracts - regardless of direct or resale- can be used together to book a reservation at 11 months.

Only difference is RIV and future resorts. You can not use the resale points with your direct points together at 7 months for that resort.

The resale contract won’t even show up as an option if you want to stay there

Yes, Disney will give you based on total as long as the owners are the same. I even got them for buying 150 in my Dec UY and adding on 150 in a new June UY. Paid the 300 point price!

I have a resale and a direct at OKW in the same use year and when I reserve at OKW it pulls from both without any issues.

Once you have the direct points, you will now see RIV as an option, but the resale CCV won't show up as a choice if you try to book it as only the direct VGF points are valid.
