The two of us planned on using the child swap room in FJ so we could each take a turn on the ride. Would it be better to just do the single rider line instead and have one adult wait with the child?

If you want to see the best parts of the queue, then you should do child-swap. If you want to ride quicker, then do single-rider. Or you could do SR, then do the castle-tour line afterwards. That gets you best of both worlds in probably the shortest time.

Combine them both!

Go through the single rider line (saves time). Whomever is not riding first will go to child swap, while the other waits. Once the rider exits, they go to child swap and the one who didn't ride gets on super fast! After that, exit, make your way through the locker area (on the right) and ask to go through the Castle Tour line. Everybody can go through that. When you reach the end of the tour line, they'll direct you to the exit.
