Single Rider Line Experience

So those who do single riders have something like this happened to you? On the other side does it bother you to have a single rider put with you on ride with your family?
My older kids use SR lines a lot and never had an issue. Sorry this was your family's experience :\

There are rare times when I can understand not wanting a single rider next to you.

For example in the days before memory maker my family of three would always buy a ride photo on RnRC. One year there was a single rider in the fourth seat and we bought the photo anyway but it is weird to look back and have a random kid in our family ride photo. So if a family is planning to purchase a ride photo and give disney extra money I can understand wanting to leave a seat empty.
We have plenty of ride pics with strangers, no way to avoid that on a lot of rides.

I have not read all the reply yet but I am seeing a running theme. When single rider young girls are to be paired and if it's a man they do not want it.. I don't understand are all men pedos? Women can be just as bad as men if they are bad people. just feels like doing this fuels the flames of women being scared of men.

On topic I never mind being paired with a stranger. You are at a theme park have fun and enjoy the ride.

When you are opting to use SR, you really don't have any say on where you get to sit, except for 'no thank you' and then leave by the chicken exit or wait a ride cycle, IMO. So I'm wondering why you use single rider when you are picky about who your daughter sits with?

I'm not picky about who my DD sits next too. I was pleasantly surprised by the match ups made by the CM & I realized the care she was taking to put EVERYONE at ease, me, my DD, & the young lady in the standby line that didn't know who she would get matched with. The CM did this effortlessly & I enjoyed watching the orchestration.

My kids love doing single rider on RnR, EE, and Test Track. Ive never been too concerned because the CMs do a great job of pairing them, and they usually get paired in the same car on TT, but I will probably be a little more vigilant now because of an incident on the same night we were in Epcot and using single rider on Test Track. This happened soon after we got off the ride.

I completely get this. My daughter is 8 and several times she wanted to ride “alone” (even if she got with a single rider at the end). It makes her feel big! (And she also tends to become best friends with whoever is riding with her!) I would bet you if her parents offered to switch the daughter would have overruled them!
I’m a perpetual single rider and have been paired with many strangers on 7DMT, which has resulted in a lot of nice memories: parents asking if I would ride with their daughter because she wanted to ride “alone” like your daughter, a young boy who was thrilled to tell me about hidden Mickeys as we rode in the front of the train, a grandmother enjoying the ride for the first time. I’ve also had a few questionable seating decisions from CMs. Once was when I was directed to sit next to a large man with extremely wide shoulders instead of the skinny teenage girl in the very next row. I’m not a small woman myself and the thought of actually fitting in a car with the man was ludicrous, so I switched rows and rode with the girl instead (which gave the man a row to himself and was obviously much more comfortable for him). Another time, I was in line behind a very friendly family and I was directed to share a row with the father. He immediately started chuckling (as both of us were on the heavy side) but I laughed with him and we had a great ride - squished up against each other. Lol.

My favorite experience of being paired with strangers was actually in DCA. I decided to ride Mickey’s Fun Wheel and realized after I got in line that I would be sharing a gondola. I was nervous and afraid that it would be super awkward to share such a small space with strangers for ten minutes. But luckily, I was seated with a lovely, talkative couple. We chatted for the entire ride about Disney, Universal, and our overall travel plans and experiences. It was unexpected and really nice.

DH doesn't really ride coasters so I frequently use the single rider line. I've never had a problem except for one time I did SRL on Splash Mountain at DL and had to get up close and personal to the lady sitting in front of me since their logs are single file bench-type seats which was a little awkward but we were friendly enough to each other. I wish WDW had more SRL's.

I feel the same way if they were more single rider lines times probably wouldn’t be as long!

We are a party of 3 so DH or i always are single rider on those rides- I enjoy it- it’s fun to meet someone who is also there to have a good time.

For all the crap going on in the world today, I like to think those of us at Disney our currently in our escape bubble together, and a little kindness goes a long way. We should be that way all the time.

That dad just needs to get the hell on over himself. You’re on vacation, dammit.

I've had lots of single rider experiences...on both sides. Traveling with 2 kids, I often (as a third person) had a single rider placed with me. For the most part, it was fun, and we made "quick friends."

The only uncomfortable experience I had was on Test Track. My teenage son and I both went single rider. I was placed in a car with a mom and her 4 kids. I was filling in the last seat. They weren't rude in any way, but I was quite aware that the kids were not happy having a stranger in their car, and ruining their photo op. I tried to be friendly but they really didn't seem like they were happy having me there.

On the other hand, my 17-year-old son came off the ride all smiles. I understood completely once I saw his on-ride photo. He was placed in a car with 5 pretty teenage girls. In the photo, he's giving a "thumbs up" and a big grin on his face! :rotfl2:

Our last trip, on TT we were paired with a teenage girl. She was traveling with a large group. Yes, one of those groups.

She was very hesitant to get into the car. She seemed very concerned about invading my space. And it was very obvious that she didn't speak English.

But we smiled, she smiled and we all enjoyed the ride. It just wasn't a big deal.

I did not want my young teen daughter to be matched up with just anyone in the regular line.
I'm not picky about who my DD sits next too.

I'm confused - first you say the first quote, then you say the second?

I think that anyone who has an issue about who they sit next to (or who their kid sits next to) should not go in the single rider line. And I agree about the 'all men are pervs' mentality that some people have - and think that if someone has that mentality then they shouldn't go to WDW, maybe they should go to therapy?
