Please help! What is the major difference if any and which do you suggest with a variety of ages? Also if your family has FP collected throughout the day would we be better to just use those so the kids could ride with whom they want?

Here is how we use child/baby swap (if someone is too tiny or too chicken to ride a ride, that mom and dad want to go on... that way mom/dad can stay with the kiddo...)

Okay, so what we would do is get 1 FP for dh, then when it was FP time, we would all go to the FP line, and talk to the CM, the CM would give me a child swap pass, and DH would go through the FP line to ride the ride... when he exited, he would find us, take dd, and I would return to the FP line, show the CM my child swap pass, and would then follow the FP line to ride the ride...

The only time we ever child-swapped without a FP was for BTMRR, because the line was so short... but we followed the same procedure, went up to entry point of the line together, told the CM we were child-swapping, were given a pass, I went through the line and rode the ride, then when I got off, DH gave me DD, and he went through the FP line to ride...

One more thing, we did this for Splash too... and DH rode, but by the time he got off we had to make lunch ressies... so I hung onto my child-swap pass and used it after dinner that night...

Well, the single rider lines should be used ONLY if you are fine with riding alone. It will be good for us, a family of 3 with a 3 year old, b/c I can run over to CA Screamin' and do the Single Rider line to get on and off very quickly, while hubby and son do something else.

In fact, for us, even swapping out, while using the Single Rider line, would work, and would probably be faster than doing the official rider switch baby swap kid swap whatever it's called. Because it's ONLY one adult riding it each time.

But since you have other kids, some of whom are able to ride restricted rides, then the swap/switch pass is better. No one will get split up into different cars or entirely different ride cycles like with the single rider line, AND you can take more people in with you on the swap/switch.

Say you go to Indy. You stay behind with the little ones who can't ride. The other adults and taller kids go on (either with a Fast Pass or in the standby line), stopping to get a swap/switch pass when they get to the CM. (we have only been there at relatively slow times, so far, so the CM is pretty much at the beginning of the line and we haven't all had to stand in line until getting the pass...at a busier time the line is longer outside, and so you might need to get in line with everyone until you reach that CM) (this is all more confusing to type out than to DO)

So the first group is in the line, having gotten the pass. When we did it, the first riders just kept the pass, but if everyone was in line until the CM gave out the pass, the second rider(s) could keep it I suppose. The person with the little ones hangs out...grabs a snack, walks up in the Tarzan Treehouse (remember I'm talking about Indy here), shop a bit, or just sit and rest.

Then the first riders come out, and the other adult gets to go on, AND can take others along! I know there's a limit, but with Indy, I only dragged one person along with me, and that won't happen again b/c my brother and SIL can only go on Indy one time without hurting.

So the second rider group takes the pass and goes through the correct line, which the CM will tell you about. For us, at the time that we did this, we went in the exit, which was fun until it meets up with the normal line.

OK that got wordy! I only hope that there was a glimmer of help in there amongst the words. I always do this when watching pirates of the caribbean while typing...we should all be glad I didn't start "talking" like Jack Sparrow...

Main points...single rider line is for when just ONE person wants to go on something, or you have a very small group like ours and taking turns won't take too long.

Not every ride has single rider.

Rider switch/baby swap is good b/c more than one person can go on the second round, and people can even re-ride if the group is small enough.

Thank you both so much for the help! Sounds like the baby swap and fastpasses are our best bets!:thumbsup2

Bumbershoot: While I was reading your post my 3yoDD comes up and sees your Avatar (she has speech issues) "Mama look pwincess wit the sooooo cute wittle boy." I tried to explain that the picture was of a mom and son. "NO it's a pwincess and pwince" I left it at that, arguing with a 3yo is sometimes well.... pointless!:upsidedow

awwwwwwww. sweet girl.

My guy is about to be 4 (the point of our upcoming trip), and while I was typing he was asking "what does 'falled in wuv' mean?" So I tried to explain, and he asked "did you and papa falled in wuv? I said yes, and it turns out he had something in mind..."did you and papa have a fwying carpet? Jasamin and Duhwaddin falled in wuv with a fwying carpet." (that's just how he says those names)

:rotfl: No, we had to fall in love without the help of the flying carpet. And amazingly, he didn't even see that part in the Aladdin show at DCA, b/c he had to pee urgently right before it!

:rotfl2: That is too funny! Out of the mouth of babes! My DD won't be 4 til December right before Christmas. I was wondering are you going to be adding to your upcoming trip report:confused3

I plan to add to it, but I just can't think of anything more to say. :goodvibes

The post-trip reports are much easier, b/c people always have questions, but a pre-trip when you kind of know your way around already is kind of light on content. :dance3: (no clue why I wanted that smilie, but it looked cute)

Just a thought - we always combine the stroller pass with the fastpass - the stroller pass only allows two people to ride the second time - BUT by adding a fastpass to the mix, I am able to ride with both my older children and then my DH can take them again while I wait with the baby -

We looooove the stroller pass/fast pass swap. But, only 2 people can go back on the ride. So in our case some one gets to ride twice! Of course it is always one of our kids as my DH or I are with the littler one. We use it even if someone is too chicken to ride the ride. They don't grill you on why you need the swap card.
