Hello,

I am back with more questions

Given that there is less than three months for the trip date, I think that the questions are getting a bit more complicated to answer with Google.

One more time, I offer the facts that could affect or not your replies:

a. I am a single parent traveling with 5yrs twins (a girl and a boy)
b. We have a booked reservation in Pop Century
c. We will be staying from September 14 to 21, 2014
d. 6 days of Park Tickets have been booked
e. We got the Free Counter Service Dining plan
f. This will be the first time in Disney for my kids, second time for me, but first time staying on property.

Check In:
How exactly it works? Our plane is suppose to arrive to Orlando at noon. We are going to use the Magical Express Transportation, so I assume that we should be arriving to our hotel around 2:00PM, but I understand that Disney will not give us access to our room until 3:00PM.
When we get to the hotel (earlier than the check in time) shall we go direct to the guest service and they will give us a package with the magic bands, vouchers, etc, or they will handle it until the check in time?
Its important to know this because by the arrival time, we could be hungry and if we wont have access to the restaurant, for example, it could be an issue.
I had in mind to lunch at Downtown Disney (Wolfgang Puck Express), but nothing would be worryless than unpack everything or at least be able to leave stuff in the safe deposit box (passports, phone, tablets). So I would prefer to take our bags to our room before to explore the property with the kids and when this can happen would be a bit later to lunch.

Dining:
Suddenly, it has come to my mind a new worry: the dining aspect of the trip.
How difficult could be for me to handle the two kids and the food that all of us are going to take? They tend to be obedient (lets pray here ), but its not only about that. I am thinking about a tray not able to accommodate the three meals. What if I need to accommodate the kids in a table and then go back for something else. Could I be pointed out by leaving the kids unattended? Actually, I would not be happy to do that. Wow, this is getting frustrating  I can make the kids take theirs refillable mugs to help me out, but maybe three plates in a tray would be too much. Once I read that Disney thinks in everything...I hope there is a solution for this already.

Character Dining:
Beyond the worries mentioned before, I have to tell you that I really want to take my kids during our visit to Animal Kingdom to the Tusker House restaurant, although I still dont know if do a breakfast or a lunch, thinking not on the food or the price but in the flexibility that one or another can give us (level of crowds growing while we eat, for example)
Do you think this is a good option for Character Dining? I have read a lot about others, but in the case of the one with princesses, my little boy would not be so happy. I think the mix of Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Minnie has to be one of the best. Again, feel free to express your ideas.

FastPass+:
Having into account our party and our possibilities, I am still planning what Fastpasses to get. Hard decision, because it depends on which rides we can actually ride and which rides could be loved for the kids.
I will give you my choices so far, but please feel free to suggest me any change that you thing I should do:
Epcot:
Soarin, Characters Spot, Mission Space (I dont know if the lite version will fit my kids) and yes! I do plan to do Test Track first thing in the morning. I read that is better to get a FP to Soarin than for Test Track.
Disney Hollywood Studios:
Toy Story Mania, Star Tours, Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I am really lost on this Park. In an adult trip I had gone with closed eyes to Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but probably they are too much for my kids.
Animal Kingdom:
Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safari and Meet Favorite Disney Pals at Adventurers Outpost. Here the sad thing is that they love to watch videos of the Expedition Everest, but we wont be able to ride in a single car (two guests for row), so its a sad no-no for us.
Magic Kingdom:
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Yes...you will jump on me to tell me that this last ride is for two guest per row, but I hope to find someone riding alone, willing to ride with one of the kids. At this point, maybe is a waste to get a FP for this, but that would be a great ride for my kids.

MagicBands:
Some days ago, I read a very interesting article about MagicBands, but something grabbed my attention. It said that they are not only good for open the hotel room doors and the access to the parks, but also to avoid the need to carry credit cards or even a wallet with you. I understand then that you could go to a store, grab some items and pay using your Magicband, charging your hotel bill, but what about if you want to order a beer with your meal? I remember that every time I wanted to buy a beer I was requested to show my drivers license in order to be allowed to buy it, but this requirement is also bypassed with the Magicband or I still need to carry the driver license with me?

Well, its enough for the moment.

Thanks in advance for your kind replies. :thumbsup2

Kind regards,
Edgar

I think you're overthinking counter service. If you can't fit everything on one tray, make one of the kids carry their own. My five and a half year old, while clumsy, is capable of carrying a basket of chicken and fries (for example).

Don't worry about not being able to check in. You can actually check in at any time, they just don't guarantee that your room will be ready until 3. I take it your traveling from outside of the US? Because if you live in the continental US, your magic bands will ship to your house about a month before your trip. If not, they will be waiting for you at the resort and yes, they will give them to you even if your room is not yet ready.

We love Tusker House lunch (have never done breakfast). We love the food, and the character interaction is good enough.

I think you fast pass selections sound great. Don't fret about missing Expedition Everest. I think my DD would be too scared of it. And your kids might not meet the height requirement of 44 inches anyway.

I haven't been on a trip with bands yet, but I would assume you would still need to show ID to buy alcohol. I definitely plan on bringing mine into the parks just to be safe.

Its all going to be fine. Five is a great age to go and they are old enough to listen and be helpful.

Check in-You can check in anytime after the AM roll over for the day, like VERY early. We have checked it at 7:00am before. Chances are very good your room will be ready. If not, grab lunch at POP food court. I would suggest getting lunch at POP even if your room is ready. Sometimes the trip to DTD can take a bit and you hate to start trip with hungry.grumpy kids. You will have your magic bans when you check in.

CS-Not a biggie. All food should fit or have kids carry a few things. If you sit yourself, choose a table close to the area where you get napkins etc if possible. If someone is sitting you, ask for same thing. A CM will help if you ask and really need it.

Tusker house is a great choice. We really like it. Book ASAP as it fills quickly. I suggest an early lunch....11:00ish. Get a bit done at rope drop then stop for lunch.

FP- They look good assuming you are pretty sure that you kids will do the mountains at MK. Mine did at 5, some kids will not. For Kali at AK, you might want to plan this one for last thing of the day. We tend to get totally wet (think a full shower wet) and the kids may not be happy walking around all day wet. It will be hot, but also humid and can take a while to dry. Avoid tennis shoes on this one for sure.

LOVE Magie Bands! So easy to charge anything back to the room. My little guy really believed the CM that told him it was Mickey Magic and we had to stress to him we did STILL have to pay for stuff;). You do still need your ID. Mickey would never tell your age:goodvibes......have fun!!!

It will be fine. I took a solo trip with my two kids this year, age 6 and 4. I was terrified of all the work, but my kids were awesome (most of the time). They were able to help carry some food or drinks from CS to the table. If I forgot something (like a condiment) they could sit at the table for the minute it took me to go pick it up. If you do a character meal, Tusker House is amazing. One of our favorites for sure. I've heard breakfast is delicious, though we usually do lunch there. Check in is super easy, if the room is ready you can go in, if not you can check your carry on bags with bell services and go explore after they give you your magic bands. It was a challenge riding a few rides with my kids and a few CMs looked at me funny because the vehicles were designed for two riders, but with two small kids we squished in (like Dumbo). I can't say how the mine train would work, it wasn't open when we went in April.

Have a great trip! It will be fun!

I wouldn't worry about this. My 4 year old helps ot by carrying things for me. If I need condiments, napkins, etc. I give those to one of my kids as their job...my 4 year old actually gets offended if one of the other kids tries to help and does what she was asked to do. There is no reason they can't help carry drinks, etc. to the table. And if you forget something, there are two of them and at many places you could probably arrange to be at a table that is close enough to observe them if you would need to go back to the counter to get something, just keep that in mind when choosing a seat (when possible).

I like the idea of lunch because it gives you a break from the heat in the middle of the day when crowds start to get heavier. I do have to say that Minnie is NOT at Tusker House, it is Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Mickey, so if Minnie is important to you, you may want to try for a meal elsewhere.

FastPass+:
Having into account our party and our possibilities, I am still planning what Fastpasses to get. Hard decision, because it depends on which rides we can actually ride and which rides could be loved for the kids.

The whole ride thing varies SO much. It not only depends on the height restrictions (if they are over 40 inches, I think the only things they wouldn't be able to ride are Primevil Whirl, Expedition Everest, Rockn Rollercoaster, Space Mountain, and Mission Space). I think the FP choices you made are good ones. The only thing I would consider is if the kids really want to meet the characters or not. It is great to have a FP if that is something they want to do, since the lines can get very long, but if it isn't something they are interested in, then your FP could be used better elsewhere.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the replies. I really enjoy to learn through these forums. :thumbsup2

Regards,

Just responding to a couple of your questions... I have never been carded at Disney. I am never carded at home, but I definitely look older than 21!!! That said, I always have a small wallet with my phone in it I carry cross body. I think you are smart to think ahead about counter service. CS in the parks can get very crowded. CM will assist you with trays if you need help. You might enjoy resort CS more. They tend to be easier to line up at and find seating with kids, IMHO. Poly, GF, CR all have great QS. GF now delivers food to your table! I would suggest a character meal with table service. I find it challenging to feed kids and eat myself between character visits at buffets. Ohanas breakfast has Stich, LILO, Pluto, and Mickey. You will have a great time!

First, you are going at a fairly slow time, so you should do ok!

Arrival. Your room may be ready, maybe not. If not, you check in and they'll call your cell phone when it is available. Why don't you plan to eat at the food court there? Pack your swim things and head out to the pool until you can get into your room.

You will find out pretty quickly how much ride your kids can handle. Hint: It might be a LOT more than you can! :rotfl2: How tall are they? My dd LOVED ToT at 4. We waited for RnR until she was 7. Why? Because I'd never been on an upside down roller coaster, and I wasn't ready! :lmao:

Because it is fairly slow when you go, you have a better chance of catching more rides on standby. (Btw, EE has a single's line, so they will pull a single to ride with one of your kids. If you do it later in the week and know that your kids do well on new rides, you could probably do it. Even on standby, the theming on the line at EE is one of my favorites!)

Character Dining: Our family favorite is O'Hana for breakfast. Fun theme, good food. The breakfast at Beach Club is good, too. We also loved Crystal Palace for any meal, but that's Pooh characters. We've never done Tusker House. For one thing, AK generally has shorter hours. And if we did a sit-down, we went to Yak n Yeti.

Here's my biggest tip: STOP OVERTHINKING. "Faith, trust and pixie dust." Have faith in your kids. Trust your parenting. And pixie dust will probably find you. You will not get everything done that you think needs to be done. That's ok as long as you have the attitude that you will enjoy what you do to the fullest. Pick your top three priorities each day, and let the rest flow. Stop and play with bugs. Smell flowers. Laugh with the CMs. Your kids will enjoy a relaxed Dad way more that getting everything done.

When we get to the hotel (earlier than the check in time) shall we go direct to the guest service and they will give us a package with the magic bands, vouchers, etc, or they will handle it until the check in time? Yes, go straight to the lobby desk and they will check you in, and you can leave them the luggage you're willing to let them handle. I would keep one bag with me with all of the passports, camera, phone, medications and money in it. There is a pretty good chance your room is ready, and if not, I would just go eat my meal in the food court area. I'm sure Wolfgang Puck's is delicious, but after a long day of travel, sometimes I would like food easily that is not as good, than to travel even more for delicious food, if that makes sense. But, sometimes arrival is such an exciting time, everyone has tons of energy and wants to explore, so you can play this by ear, and just bring your valuables with you.
Once I read that Disney thinks in everything...I hope there is a solution for this already. I think you will be okay at QS locations. Maybe sometimes you'll split a meal with the kids, or you can order an adult meal for the kids to split (not sure if this is against the rules, if it is, I wouldn't advocate it, just sharing options) and so there will be only 2 plates. In the parks, the refillable cups aren't able to be filled (only at your resort) so I would leave them at your resort rather than carry around cups) but I think your kids can help a little bit carrying something if you need it. I've eaten with my kids alone before, and if I could, I had them sit at a table and I went up to get the food, as long as I could see the table. Also, they are 5 years old, not 2, and it would be acceptable to leave them alone for the 1 minute it takes to get food.

I really liked the Tusker House breakfast, it was great character interaction. Since you have a FastPass+ to already see characters while you're in Animal Kingdom I wonder if it will be worth it to pay all that money for a meal to see the same characters again. Just a thought.

At this point, maybe is a waste to get a FP for this, but that would be a great ride for my kids. Do I guess correctly you will be in Magic Kingdom more than one day? You have 6 days of tickets, right? If I had 6 days of tickets, I would spend 3 of those days in the MK, which means you'll need more FastPass picks! I would add: Enchanted Tales with Belle (there will be something for your son to do that isn't "girly", Tomorrowland Speedway to drive cars. You should be able to fit all 3 in one car, and perhaps they will let you go twice, once with each child driving (maybe or maybe not, depends on the CM). I suggest maybe a FP+ to the Main Street Electrical Parade and Wishes. With little ones needing to go to the bathroom and needing food, it will be difficult to get a good spot for the parade, but with FP+ you will have no problem seeing it from a very good spot.

Well, its enough for the moment.

You and I are very similar, we both have boy/girl twins, and we both try to think of everything and have a plan for everything. I overplanned and overthought my entire first Disney vacation, and I'm so glad I did! Nobody gets frustrated by being overprepared. My twins were also 5 our first trip, for me, it seemed like the perfect age! And while I was traveling with my spouse, the kids and I had an alone day at Animal Kingdom while my DH golfed, and it was fine. I would have no hesitation going on vacation alone with my twins.

Hello,

I am back with more questions

Given that there is less than three months for the trip date, I think that the questions are getting a bit more complicated to answer with Google.

I have 8 value stays, including 2 at POP, and my room has been ready every time, as early as 7 am. The odds are very good that your room will be ready ahead of time. If you are not particularly picky about your location, there is a place to check if you do online check-in that says room ready upon arrival. We checked this box off on our trip last year and our room was ready for us when we arrived at 10:00 am. If you have a lot of room concerns such as what floor you are on, view etc... then I would not check this box.

Dining:
Suddenly, it has come to my mind a new worry: the dining aspect of the trip.

The youngest I have taken kids by myself was 2 kids aged 6 and 3. The only issue I ran into was pushing a stroller through the crowds. (It was President's Week). I ended up having the 6 year old push the 3 year old while I carried the food. I think you will be fine. If not, SPEAK UP. I've always found people willing to help when needed and I know my family has helped others on more than one occasion.

I've done Crystal Palace by myself with 2 kids. One idea is just to fill a plate with food for the kids and then take an empty plate and divide up the food back at the table. Sometimes my kids came up tot the buffet with me and other times they stayed at the table. Nobody seemed to care. I would have everything ready to go, though (autograph books and pens, camera etc...) so that you are not scrambling when the characters come around. And, don't be afraid to ask the character handler for a picture of all of you with the characters. Also, there is a pattern to how the characters come to the tables. Find out what table they come to before yours, so that you won't be at the buffet when they come.

I haven't used FP+ yet, but will offer what insight I can.
Epcot:
Soarin, Characters Spot, Mission Space (I dont know if the lite version will fit my kids) and yes! I do plan to do Test Track first thing in the morning. I read that is better to get a FP to Soarin than for Test Track.
I don't think it matters greatly which one you FP+ (TT or Soarin) but I will say that TT has a more interesting line. Mission Space has a height requirement of 44". My DD went on it at 5 1/2 and loved it. However, she couldn't reach the buttons that you are supposed to push (they don't actually do anything) and she was convinced that was essential to our safe landing. So, I ended up having push hers as well. If you go on this, make sure you sit in the middle. You may have to push everyone's buttons.;)
Rock 'n' Roller coaster has a 48" height requirement so that is probably out unless they are like my oldest who rode at 5 1/2 and loved it. Tower of Terror really depends on the child. It's safe, but would freak out many kids that age. If you are unsure, you may not want to chance it.
This is the downside to traveling alone. Hopefully, you'll have so much fun that you want to return!
Good luck finding someone.:goodvibes I hope you find a family like mine. We have an odd number and everyone is old enough to ride alone. I would just chat people up in line until you find someone to help you.

:thumbsup2

Kind regards,
Edgar

Have a great trip!:dance3:

ETA: Rock'n'Roller Coaster also seats only 2 across. Even if your kiddos are tall enough, I would skip it rather than try to find someone to help.

I am a single Mom with 6 year old Boy/Girl twins. We have gone twice – first trip when they were 4 and last time they were 5. It took me 2 trips to STOP STRESSING! I am an over planner and on a tight budget but we have had the BEST trips. I am currently planning our next trip for 2015! =) Feel free to inbox me any questions. =)
You can check in and they will txt message you when your room is ready. You have access to the resort and meals. We always pack our swimsuits in a carry on bag and hit the pool. You can eat at the resort or buy a snack. Both times I have been I arrived before noon and my room was ready in an hour or less.
Your kids can help. Just give them trays with closed containers. Or you can have them sit at the table and make a couple of trips – people will help you. Rolling highchairs can carry trays in a pinch! I feel safe leaving mine as long as they are together and I can see them. Line of sight is my rule and you can accomplish this easily. (BTW – you can’t use refillable mugs at the parks – only at the resorts.)
Character Buffet meals = parents don’t eat. So eat something before you go! By the time you get all the food for the kids..take the pictures with the characters…the kids are ready to go and you haven’t had a thing!
My kids FAVORITE is Chef Mickeys. (We have been to them all!) I would suggest breakfast.

At this point, maybe is a waste to get a FP for this, but that would be a great ride for my kids.
Be flexible! I had Fantasmic planned but my kids wanted to ride Star Tours (for the 4th time that day) So what did we do? Rode Star Tours. You can’t do everything in one trip so be ready to change plans and just enjoy yourself. My kids REALLY loved all the character s and experiences!!! Far more than the rides! Do the Pirate’s League – and you do it too! Do BBB – my son got a shield and sword and loved it! It’s not just for girls! Look at the pirate hunts and Tea Party – The one with the Mad Hatter and Alice. (Not the My Disney Princess - we did that one but it is VERY expensive!) (Sorry I forgot the official names of some of the experiences but you can find them easily!)
Also, take Children’s Motrin with you! My son got sick last time and they had Children’s Tylenol but no Children’s Motrin! (Anywhere on property)

Hello,

Wow, I was greatly surprised with the replies posted after my thank you post. :goodvibes.

Its amazing how you guys can help others with your experience.

A couple of thoughts about your kind posts:

Would be great be able to check in and immediately have our room ready. I always thought that the check in was completely enforced at Disney Resorts.

My little boy is already 44", my princess is at 43". With 2 1/2 months to go, maybe some of the 44" rides would have to be left aside.

Its interesting that Expedition Everest suddenly could be possible with the single riders line option. I will need to test the thrilling side of my kids first.

I will drop the Fastpass+ for characters meeting at AK. You are right Happyjen27. Would be a waste if we are going to Tusker Hourse (thanks)

My kids do not speak english (I am not fluently either), another concern to me, because I dont want them to feel left apart at any moment. Maybe we will have to skip Enchanted Tales with Belle for that reason, but in exchange the suggestion of Tomorrowland Speedway is great. :drive:

About the character dining, I am thinking about 2 or 3. The Garden Grill one at Epcot seems interesting and peaceful given that the food is brought to your table. I am still thinking about upgrading the Free Quick Service Dining Plan to the Regular one just for the character dining side. What stops me so far is the time consumption in the restaurants vs riding time.

With 6 days tickets, so far I want to repeat Magic Kingdom and the other day is still open. Someone in another post suggests me to ask the kids what they would like to do, but I am sure that the park that will grab their attention will me MK.

For SmallWorld71, I would prefer to wait in lines for Test Track. The Soarin line killed about 1 hour of my trip on September last year. And when I say "killed" is because was extremely boring, even with the animated walls. :(

Thanks for wish me luck on finding someone able to ride with one of my kids. I wonder if the cast member of FastPass+ will allow me going forward if he/she sees that we cant ride together...:confused3

For Jbausch...the characters dining are that bad for the parents that they can barely eat? Maybe because you want to have everything ready for when the caracter arrives :worried:

I repeat this a lot, but I really appreciate your time to reply my posts and for killing my worries.

Kind regards, :thumbsup2
Edgar

One warning about Garden Grill, it is a rotating restaurant. It made me and my family somewhat motion sick. I really didn't enjoy that dining experience.
Chef Mickey has awesome food and awesome character interaction! Also the royal table at Cinderella's castle has really good food if your kids are into the princesses.

Actually, Epcot is my kids' favorite park and was even at 3 years old. It's really, really hard to do Epcot in one day since it's so big. The pace of Epcot is more relaxing too, so we enjoyed that. So, don't be surprised if you find you need a second day at EP. There is so much for kids there, much more than I had remembered from when I went before I had kids.

While it is possible there are no rooms ready at 2PM, I would expect in September you would be able to check in early if (and that's a big if) ME gets you there by 2PM. Yes, go straight to check in. Worst case, you can get your MB (se below) if you have not already and can then head to eat. Bags are usually delivered to the room when taking ME I believe. Not sure of the timing. Not sure if you can request them be given to you as we usually do not take ME.

If you booked a package through WDW, you should have customized your MB and your packet of vouchers, vacation information and MB will all be mailed to you around the 45 day mark. You shouldn't need to pick them up unless you requested to do so.

Dining:
Suddenly, it has come to my mind a new worry: the dining aspect of the trip.
How difficult could be for me to handle the two kids and the food that all of us are going to take? They tend to be obedient (lets pray here ), but its not only about that. There is plenty of room on the tray and my kids oldest was 5, he actually wanted to help out with carrying everything so I don't see it as a problem. I think your are over worrying.

Yes, Tusker House is a good option. I would suggest breakfast at opening or at least by 8AM. You get to go into the park early and take your time eating. You'll be done right about park opening and be able to head to your first attraction before any crowds. We did this last year and rode the safari with no line at all.

Maelstrom is one that can have a long line at times. My kids would not do MS when young, even the orange side. You may want to ask them and choose something else if they will not ride.

Toy Story Mania, Star Tours, Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I am really lost on this Park. In an adult trip I had gone with closed eyes to Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but probably they are too much for my kids.

Looks good. DS does RnR, neither of mine will do ToT even now at older ages. Some kids love it though.

Would they ride together and you could go right behind them on EE? The cars are small and you could be in the same car, just sitting behind. Just a thought. Caution if you do not know, Tough to be a bug can be scary for young ones.

No Jumping. Again, maybe the kids could ride together with you behind them. Not sure how you would get a 4th person given you are FP the entry, but good luck.

MagicBands:
Some days ago, I read a very interesting article about MagicBands, but something grabbed my attention. It said that they are not only good for open the hotel room doors and the access to the parks, but also to avoid the need to carry credit cards or even a wallet with you. Now there is a good question. I would suggest carrying a small wallet with identification anyway. I would never leave EVERYTHING in the room. Just in case I would bring ID, one CC, a few dollars as there are some things you need cash for like the service carts and anything else you may need. Are you bringing a camera? If so, maybe you could put these things into the camera bag/pouch.

Well, its enough for the moment.

Thanks in advance for your kind replies. :thumbsup2

Kind regards,
Edgar

May I suggest you head over to the DisDads thread Edgar. It is a group of us where we kind of hang out. You'll get lots of great tips and a lot of great guys with tons of experience to converse with. You may even find one or several of us that would be there when you are to say Hi and maybe even ride that mine train. It is under the families tab and we have our own little area.

I did Disney solo with mine when they were 9 mos and 2yo. I was worried about logistics of things like carrying food trays at counter service, etc, but I shouldn't have given that a second thought. The CM's in the counter service areas were very quick to pop over and help me carry a tray or high chair, etc, when my hands were full. And with yours being 5, they will be of some help, too. So I wouldn't worry a bit about that! It will work out fine.

We loved Tusker House breakfast - the food was delicious and it was super fun. However, let me tell you NOT to discount the possibility of a princess meal if your DD is REALLY into princesses. 2 reasons: 1) the princesses are used to brothers, and treat them really sweetly and make them feel VERY special, and 2) your princess years are few - you should enjoy them while you can! If you can swing it, I recommend the 1900 Park Faire dinner at Grand Floridian. The buffet is delicious, and the character interactions are the best we've had. You get Cinderella (to fulfill your princess needs), her prince, Lady Tremaine (stepmother), and both stepsisters. And those last three? They are HYSTERICAL. My DS was 6 when we went to 1900PF - and he was just indulging his younger (5 yo) sister somewhat begrudgingly. But he laughed his HEAD off the whole dinner and to this day, it is his favorite character meal we've done.

As for rides, now mine are almost 8 and 6 year sold, so we have similar issues when a car only seats two, etc. They generally trade off - one kid rides with mommy, the other rides with a stranger or alone - but I make sure we are always within reach of one another. I stressed a lot about this, but really once we get going it's not a big deal for them.

At DHS, since you are having trouble finding stuff to do there, I recommend Star Tours (both my kids LOVE it, even DD who is not into SW), Voyage of the Little Mermaid (makes a nice break), Toy Story Mania (though please note that the cars you are in sit you back to back, so the three of you will be 2 on one side, one on the other - my solution to that would be to let the kids sit on one side and "compete" and you sit on the other), maybe an animation tutorial in Art of Animation, and depending on if they are still into Disney Junior shows (Doc Mcstuffins, etc) the Disney Junior show. My kids really like just walking around DHS - in the backlot area, etc. I honestly do NOT recommend ToT - my almost 8 year old LOVES that ride but his 6 yo sister went on it once and refuses to do it again - it really scared her. The Muppet Movie attraction at DHS is cute and they might like, too. Hope that helps!

Try not to over think it and try to go with the flow. You might get to Expedition Everest and they say...you know, let's do it! Or you might make friends with someone in line with you who will ride with one child or rider swap with you or something. And if they don't do it this time, they can do it next time.

Have a GREAT trip! I told my family after that first trip when the kids were TINY that Disney was definitely a great place to be solo with the kids - I felt very taken care of and we all had a really wonderful time.

PS - to clarify, I am not a single mom BUT when we are at Disney it is often due to my husband being at a conference, so I have the kids by myself. He is not really into theme parks! So while I'm not a single parent, I can totally identify with some of your worries about your trip!

Oh! Also - if your kids are sensitive to "scary," they may not like Fantasmic! My DD does NOT like the show, which vexes me because I love Villains. Oh well! If you don't do F! you can take advantage of the way the park clears out a bit during that time period. :-)

One more addition! I totally agree with the suggestion about Enchanted Tales with Belle - DO IT! Firstly, it's very cool, particularly the transition and "magic." Secondly, it is not overly girly at all and your son can try for a boy part - DS was "Crazy Old Maurice" and enjoyed every second of it! It's a cool attraction.

Oh you are goingto have lots of fun. I have gone with my triplets alone when they were 4, 5 and last year the ywere 7 and their lil sister was 1. it is totally doable.

the best advise I can give you is to not worry and over plan. take time to look at what seems silly. I remember sitting at a bench for 30 minutes looking at ducks at Epcot. Yes a waste of time but they had soo much fun. Depending on your size and the kids size, the 3 of you will find that you can ride together on most rides. the ones where we could only be 2, I would place 2 in front of me and one with me. it has always worked and were never told no.

I always begin Id and credit card in my back pocket in case my band doesn't work. I was more then happy to have those around when I went alone with my sister this past Feb and I couldn't get stuff charged on my magic band for some reason.
