We are driving from NJ too - in August! I think I may be almost as excited for the road trip as I am for Disney!!! :rotfl: Have a great day everyone!

I on the other hand don't want the drive from Texas. I just want to get to Disney ASAP... zooooooom in an airplane.

But with airfare prices kinda high.... we will be driving to Orlando. I think the drive there will be good... the ride back home might seem an eternity..!!:worship::worship:

I decided on our new dates:) August 15-22nd ASSports :). I was able to make 5 of my 7 dining reservations today! Not all are ideal times but they'll do. This will be our 10th trip (or so) to Disney & believe it or not we have never done EPCOT :confused3-- I purchased 2 days of tickets & we are using our Disney volunteer tickets. So we will have 3 days of parks, maybe a day at Sea World, 2RELAX/POOL days, & 1 Downtown day.

YEAH!!!!!!:cheer2::hug: Anyone else??

Jenny

Well I went to book & the 15th-22nd was not available. So we are now going the week of the 22nd :) :) Off to change my dining once again.....Would LOVE to meet up with anyone else who will be down there :)

Buenos dias to everyone..!

Had a great weekend... but tooo hot..! Got a question for those single parents who have their kids spend the summer with the ex-spouse....

HOW THE HECK DO YOU DO IT...?!?!?!?!?!?!

My ex moved out of town in February (about 6hrs away) and DS6 hasn't seen him since March, but would see him every other weekend prior to moving.

DS will be spending 30-45 days with his dad this summer. He is coming into town on Friday to pick him up and I am DREADING IT. :guilty: The longest that we have been apart has been for 8 days. Yes it's nice to have some "me" time but at the end of those 8 days I am climbing up the walls just waiting for DS to be with me. DS is excited about getting to see his dad and his other grandparents. I told him this weekend that it's okay to call me if he wants to come back home early. We will be taking our Disney trip 3-days after he arrives back home.

I'm going to have to find something to keep me VERY VERY BUSY...! so again... How do you deal with this? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I haven't been through this, but I can imagine what it would be like. Wow! I haven't caught up on the thread yet, so I don't know what kind of advice you have recieved from others. If it was me, I would fine some kind of hobby to help ease the time. Maybe something that requires concentration to help you focus on something else? At any rate, we will be here when you need it!

Welcome to our newest posters!

I have an announcement! My kids rooms are completely unpacked! :cool1:

Adaygaby - keeping my fingers crossed for a Chef Mickey's ADR!

I haven't had to deal with this, at least not yet. But I remember the first full week DD was away. I called her every night to tell her I missed her.

I made plans with friends for almost every evening so I wasn't sitting home wishing she were there. So that's the best advice I can give you. Make lots of plans with friends and family to keep yourself busy. Take on a project around the house. Are there any rooms you want to redecorate? Find a place to volunteer at. If you like animals, volunteer at a shelter to take the dogs out for walks and play with them. Sign up for a cooking class or learn to knit. Find a walking buddy to walk with in the evenings.

Good luck! Hopefully the time will end up flying by for you.

Good morning! I'm waiting for some lab work (joy!). I hope everybody has a great day.

Oh wow never knew there was a thread for single parents. I've been a single mama to one little girl for 3 years now.

We are planning to go to Disneyland in October. Her first trip to the "land" and my 2nd. CA wasn't around in the early 90's when I went for my first time at the "land". I was going to try to July for her birthday but just won't have the funds right now. :( Plus they stopped the free birthday. WHAAA! We may be going in August with my brothers though I would love to go for at least one day for Halloween. I've never been to any Disney parks around that time and it would be fun.

I always find road trips have the opposite effect, it takes FOREVER to get there because of the anticipation and if you don't make the drive all the time you don't know the lay of land...however going home you know the route, you've just done it and when you get into familiar territory you know where you are and that seems to make time go so much quicker...at least for me it does... I am very thankful I was able to find a good deal (granted we have layovers) and my mom is awesome and buys our airfare for xmas every year.
Best of luck with your trip and stay sane! :goodvibes

Hey everybody! I hope everybody has a safe and wonderful weekend. Does anybody have anything planned? My BF is working out of town, so nothing going on there. I might take he kids to see the high school production of The Wizard of Oz Saturday.

We will be at Disney November 10-16 with 2 nights at All Stars Music and 4 nights at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas. I originally was staying 6 nights at All Stars Music but decided to do a split stay. I have never stayed on-site and was not sure how much I would like having line-ups at the park and line-ups back at the resort for dining so I thought a little testing of the water would be good. We are going to do the MVMCP and 2 days of Disney, 1 day at SeaWorld and 1 day at Universal (my son loves the Spiderman ride).

Wow what an awesome thread! Mine is kind of a complicated single mom story but I'll hit the highlights. Had been a single mom of an adult daughter and a teenage son for several years as well as grandma to 2 boys. DD:littleangel: and SIL both died almost 3 years ago and so became single mom of those 2 boys age 15 months and 3.5 at the time as well as my DS 15. We are planning a 2 week Disney visit in Dec 4-18th (yes I am stressing) oh let me add I am 46:rolleyes1
We went to Disney a few months after their parents died due to a conference I was going to there anyway They were still pretty little, this time they are really looking forward to going (me too)
We have been through alot and can't wait to get away from it all and go have some magic!

:grouphug::grouphug: I hope all of you have a very magical vacation - sounds like you have been through so much the past 3 years! I am so sorry about your DD and SIL - very tragic - obviously they were very young because you are a very young Grandma. :grouphug:

Hello Everyone!

I am a single mom to a DD11. We started going to WDW when she was 5. She is a little traveler. We have been to WDW, and cruised on DCL both a few times each.

We are going Halloween weekend this year, as we have never been during that time, usually it is right after Thanksgiving when we go.

I SO need to get away!!!!!!!!!!!
