Single parent riding forbidden journey

I have a friend that wants to ride FJ and will be there with her 5 year old son and has no one else with her, I have used the child swap area with my wife but have never noticed if it Is supervised by staff for single parent, any suggestions?

The sign says children under 12 must be supervised. There is not a universal staffing the parent swap area so the child could be completely unattended if the parent rode the ride without th 5 year old. I am pretty sure it is not allowed, I know it is not safe!

As mentioned there is no one watching the kids.You can't leave kids unattended in the swap rooms

I think there is a child care/babysitter service that will go to the park with you. I read a post about a month ago about it.

A five y/o would not be allowed to stay in the child swap room by himself. We actually saw this when we were there May 12th. We were going to leave my 79 y/o mom there, while we rode. The TM told her she could either go into the child swap area to wait or she could sit in the wheelchair and wait for us right outside that area next to the elevator. Anyway, while we were dealing with her, we heard a lady arguing with a TM about leaving her kids in there. They looked to be about 5 y/o and 6 y/o. The TM was telling her they could not be left without an adult to supervise them and she kept arguing that they'd be fine in there until she rode the ride. The TM just kept telling her kids were not allowed in the child swap area, without an adult being with them. I'm not sure how she got through the line with them, unless the other TM's just assumed she was with another guest.

Anyone can go through the lines at Universal. They would have assumed she was leaving before the seating area.

Make friends with another family in line that has smaller children that can't ride either. Ask them if they wouldn't mind watching the child (with their small children) while the adult rides the ride. I fell safe doing this because you know the other people are parents. To me it's just as safe as letting your kids spend the night at a friends house that you just meet their parents.

So is it true about the under 12 going into the room? I was planning to do that for DD12 who is ride wimp. I just wanted to clarify in case it is 12 and under vs. under 12. On the upside DD12 looks like she is at least 13 if not 14 although DH is a rule stickler.

I've never heard of an official Universal rule for what age a child must be to be unsupervised; there aren't any signs at Forbidden Journey that say that, at least. I'm positive that she'll be allowed to wait by herself (although you should totally try to convince her to ride- it's very cool!).. Anyway, I think a TM would only have a problem if it was a small child and the parent actually brings the situation to their attention.

Your daughter should be fine. I had two girls with me on my last trip (10 and 12 at the time) and they roamed the parks together unsupervised for the entire day, checking in every few hours. No one said a word to then. I would send her through the child swap area to the gift shop much more entertaining.
