Single Parent - ECV/Wheelchair - 2 DS (9/5)

Glad the trip worked but I understand it had it ups and downs.

If you go again I'd certainly make adjustments including bringing a companion or two. I believe you would enjoy the trip better that way. With help I believe you can last longer in the parks which gives you more bang for your dollar. It would be more fun for all of you. You can enjoy your sons more. If you have a second helper then the boys could be in a double stroller or take turns in a single stroller. Besides, I feel strongly you need a back up in case you have a problem, whatever it is.

The boys would love Disney's All Star Sports and it would be less expensive. There are family suites there. This would help your budget for the resort; so, you can have helpers.

I would rather save a little longer for a trip and have more fun and have it a little easier with extra help.

A side note: We make vacation lists to make sure we don't forget anything important. They really work for us.

also remember the 5 year old can not ride without you riding the 2 kids can not ride by selves
Funny you should say this because this was my understanding pre-trip. And I don't think anything has changed per se; but there were a handful of times where the kids (even after stating their ages) were told to sit together. And I was a little shocked. And then one time, it meant my 8/almost 9 year old would be with a stranger and that didn't feel comfortable for them - so we had to work around it by me being behind them and no CM said anything one way or the other. My response was, "Can my 8/9 year old have a seat empty if there are no other options (SDD - so I know giving up seats really stinks). But yeah, good catch!

Thank you! -bsmcneil (all bold below is my response - wasn't quite sure the best format, lol)

Two things - I very much agree that my kids would've LOVED sports and I tried for it. But/And ... I also had some travel credit to use from Covid, specifically to rent DVC points - but all in all, I do like your idea.

This makes sense. And the sad part is that had I gone when I originally planned, we would've been WAY (I would, at least) unprepared. So, this was a good trial run - now for the real trip! 🤣😂

Siiiiiigh. Me too! You should've seen them all. But some of the extenuating circumstances were present. And the things I left were all on the couch where I was packing all night. Just happened to miss then. But yeah, good point all around!

FYI, I tried that on SDMT and was told I'd have to wait until the next cycle, so anyone who wants to sit alone should be prepared to wait.

When I attempted a day in the parks in a manual wheelchair, with adults to switch off helping me push up hills, it absolutely did not work. Your mileage may vary, but I think even an otherwise able-bodied person would find it pretty hard to self-propel if they weren’t used to doing it every day.

so true and the parks are definitely not level. Epcot especially is full of hills. I pushed my dad in a wheelchair for 2 full days. I swear a lot of Epcot and rides are uphill both ways lol. Especially Soarin. Thankfully my dad is not really large because pushing with all those hills was hard work. It was doable but exhausting.
