We need to bring a stroller for our baby (10 months old), but I'm not sure if we should bring a double stroller so that our 5 year old can take a break if needed. We are going at Christmastime so getting a double stroller through the crowds could be a pain. Thoughts?

I would bring it just to help keep the 5 yr old safe. When they are strapped in to the stroller with big crowds no worry of them getting bumped and pushed around by other adults. Also having it for breaks is good.

I would. I brought a single for my 2 year old last trip, and many evenings ended with me carrying the 2yo and one of the 7yr olds resting in the stroller. :/

Double.

We did a double for our 10 month and 4 year olds last trip. Next trip they will be 2.5 and 6... and we are doing a double again. We likely COULD do a single and have them swap - but I know ODD will whine and I rather push then listen (and she is small still - if she weighed more I may change my tune!)

I would bring or rent a double stroller. The 5 year old will get tired and want to rest.

Yep... I had a 1 year old plus 4 and 6 year old siblings. We brought a double and the older two took turns. At times when it was really hectic with crowds, they all got on there to get safely through the crowds!

As for the width problem, our city mini double really isn't too much wider than the wheel base of the single.
