Single Mother, 15 and 11 y/o sons

My DS is almost 14 and still loves WDW. You can have a wonderful trip. Do lots of research, let them help plan and listen to what they want to do.

There are lots of rides and shows they will love. If it is warm when you go, they might love a water park, and they might love DQ.

Good luck.

Why would it be a nightmare? They are certainly old enough to be well behaved and to still love riding rides. I think it would be a joy.

I don't understand the nightmare part either. If it is the expenses They are certainly both old enough to understand a budget. Decide together where the money will be spent. At those ages they don't need a bunch of junky souveniers and can deal with a food budget. In fact they are old enough to let them go alone in the parks for a bit if you need a break to look at Mom type things or just take a break. I think those are great ages .

Are you worried that just because they are BOYS that it might be nightmarish? If that's the case, don't worry! DH's first trip to WDW was in 2003 after we had DS and he was like a little kid again. He even told me he would make it his mission to kiss Mickey too :rotfl2: (and he did!) I'm sure they'll definitely enjoy it (if that is even your worry to begin with) and find their piece of the magic as well! :wizard:

I have a 13 year old son who really enjoys all of Disney. Are your boys into VMK? (Virtual Magic Kingdom) check it out at www.vmk.com
My son is a big VMK fan and Magic Kingdom has the VMK Quests you can go on and earn virtual vmk prizes! These are a big hit with the teenagers and offer a challenge, something different from the norm and mom can get involved too.

Ofcourse you'll have all of the rides too. I don't think you can go wrong with any age at WDW!

Go make some memories!!

My teens love it at WDW ! Do your homework on some stuff they may love and look for discounts everywhere ! DisneyQuest, VMK is really cool from a creative, competitive and collectable point of view with plenty of OLD "kids" on it "playing", then they do the VMK quests at the park - our whole family had fun figuring them out, Waterparks, sneak over to Islands of Adventure and plenty of good eats :thumbsup2

Will it work out, or be an expensive nightmare??

I used to be a single mother (now remarried) I wish I could've given my kids a WDW trip during that time of our lives. I know your boys will look back on this trip someday and will realize what you likely sacraficed to make it happen. It will be a wonderful, and probably once in a lifetime kind of trip before your boys will be looking to take their vacations with their friends and girlfriends.

Follow the advice on these boards, and have your boys join the site as well. There is soo much information here, and WDW is one of those places that is hard to NOT like.

On a personal note...I just want to say BRAVO! Being a single mother is one of the hardest jobs on the planet, and I hope you and your boys have the time of your life!! :wizard:

DS13 & I spent our first mother/son two week vacation at WDW last August.
This Aug we'll be there a week before DH joins us for our second week.
Have fun - enjoy your kids

My Aunt just took my cousin (her son is 17 and daughter is 12) and they had a wonderful time and are planning on going back.

I say go and have a great time :thumbsup2
