Single Moms (Dads)??

Are there any single parents that go to WDW with their kids? Do you find that after a few days you're dying for another adult to talk to?? What do YOU do?

I'm a single mom with a thirteen year old daughter. We love spending time together at Disney World! We talk about all sorts of things that just don't seem to come up a home. Maybe because other people and distractions are around us at home. I chat with other adults on the buses and in the lines waiting for attractions, so I don't have adult withdrawal. I'm really dreading the day that my daughter decides that going alone with mom to WDW is no longer a cool thing to do. Until that time, I'll listen to anything she wants to tell me!

Altho' I am no longer a single mom I was when we went a few years ago. It was actually because things were miserable that I decided to take my children We had a great time! As for missing adult interaction I found I was so exhausted at the end of the day I didn't want to talk just to sleep

I've taken just my son a few times and it was a blast! I end feeling more playful and he very patiently waits during my shopping fits. The time we've spent has been really special IMO.

Thanks everyone! I feel better now. I have a 9 yo son (going on 35!) and we love to spend time together, but I was afraid that after 7 days he'd get sick of good ole mom (and I'd be looking for someone to talk to!)

The idea about talking to people in line and on buses will probably help too. Thanks again!

I took my DD, then age 11, for the first time a couple of years ago. We had such a great time, we immediately planned another trip, this time inviting lots of extended family with us. That trip was also great, but now I'm planning a quick weekend getaway in October for just me and DD again. Don't let your single parent status deter you from making the trip. It was so much fun for just the two of us!!

I first took DS to WDW as a single mom when he was about 7 years old. We had a great time! It seemed like we had more "talk time" together on vacation than we do at home. We continued the trips every other year. Even though I remarried when he was 11, and we now take trips as a family, he and I still do a short getaway to WDW once a year just for us. He's 18 now, but it's still a wonderful trip. With everyone so busy (and he's off to college) that 4 days let us get re-acquainted.

Do it, you'll love it!
