"single" mom w/kids ages 3 and 7

DH has unexpectedly been asked to go to Orlando on business next week. I'm considering going w/him. My problem is I'll be alone in the parks w/ my 2 kids. DD7 is 52 inches tall and loves all the rides. DD3 at 38 inches is too small for the biggies. Is there any way I can work it so my older daughter can ride? I know at the Primieval Whirl they have the waiting area set up so that we all wait in line together until she gets on the ride, and then I can sit right there watching for her to get off. The specific rides I'm interested in are Test Track, Big Thunder Mtn, Splash Mtn, Space Mtn, Rock and Roller Coster, and Star Tours.

I went alone with a then- 5yoDD and a 7yoDS. DD was tall enough, but didn't want to go on several of the rides. DS was able to go on Space Mountain and Star Tours alone. We all stood in line together, I saw him onto the ride, and then went to the unloading area to wait for him. I would not have done it if he hadn't been on the rides before and known he loved them.

I don't remember what we did about Splash and Thunder. I think we may have been able to convince DD to go on them. Test Track and Primeval Whirl weren't around then, and we skipped RnR and ToT altogether. I think DS wasn't ready for them yet at that time.

According to the "rules" at 7 he can go on alone. Would i let him? I don't think so on most things. As Barb D mentioned, her son had ridden these before and I think that is a big factor. Sometimes kids you do not expect it from, can freak out on the ride. Another problem is, can you be there to meet him when he gets off? Some rides end quite a ways from where they start and The exit into the park may be quite a little ways from the place he gets off the ride, meaning he will have to walk a good ways alone. The CM's at the ride might can help you with this problem too if you just ask. SO.... I would only consider letting him if he has ridden before and you know which rides he is comfortable on, if you are comfortable that he will get his restraint fastened and remain seated and safe during the ride, and that you can be at the end of the ride it's self to meet him. Only you know your child well enough to make that call.
BTW- There is so many things that the whole family -DH can do together that the trip would still be very much worth it.

Thanks for the replies! I should have mentioned that the 7 year old has been to WDW 7 times and has been riding BTM since she was not quite 3. I know she won't be scared. My concern is her being alone walking to/from the ride. I don't like letting her out of my sight that long. There's too many sickos out there.

Well, at least with Space and Star Tours I was able to see him get into the car and get out of the car. The CM directed me to the exact place where he would unload from the car (not to the ride exit.) Just explain to the CM what it is you want to do and there shouldn't be a problem.
