Does your husband work off for a period of time, leaving you being the only parent while he's gone. My husband is gone for 2 weeks and home for 2 weeks. He does get to call once or twice a day. Just wondering.

My DH is gone 28 days - home 28 days - It can be tough being a single parent those 28 days that he is gone but we really enjoy his 28 days home. We get alot of quality time then :sunny:

Well we are on year number 9 now of my DH working out of state. He comes home on the weekends. I work a part-time job and my kids are teens now so it's not too bad. I have to say there are times I do feel like a single mom.

My DH can be gone for 2 days home for 1 or work every other 8 hours that I am basically alone then too.

My husband works offshore. He made 3 years this past October. To us it is bitter sweet. I love it when he comes home and Im sad on the day he leaves. I generally try to block it out of my mind for that day!! It is easy though when he is at home. He usually (most of the time!!!) makes up the beds and straightens up the house before I get home from work and he picks up the kids from school. We spend every minute together except for while im at work except for during hunting season. He likes his time off for those 2wks he is at home. I do have family close by so that also helps especially after Hurricaine Katrina. He had to go to work and I had no power except for a generator his mother would come stay with me at night.

My husband is in the Navy. When he is on a ship, the schedule is 2 weeks home and 2 weeks gone, then about 2 months before the 6 month deployment, there is a 6 week deployment. We do this 5 years straight until a 2 year break on shore duty, then back to sea duty again. I don't know how a single parent does it everyday of every year.

Be glad you haven't been doing it 13 years. It stinks!

It's been like that for my entire 21 year marriage. Only my husbands travel schedual is never the same. Jan. he was away for about a week and a half. Feb. he'll be gone for the month. March, well so far it is about two weeks (I think), but it looks like it will be more. April I have no clue yet. It also can change on short notice. I'm used to it though and am not sure I could adjust to him being home all the time lol.
