I am a widowed mom and my bff is single and we are taking my kids on the dream. There is a Single Mingle each day onboard and was wondering if anyone has attended one before. I am not looking to find my true love or anything but it could be fun to meet some other single parents or singles to go to the adult lounges when the kids are off enjoying the kids activities.

Hi,
I went on a cruise in June and since my dad, sister, and I are all single we decided to go to the mixer and when we got there it was empty except for one person. That was the first night so we didn't bother going anymore but you should just go and see if anyone on your ship goes!

I can tell you I have seen a meet advertised in the navigator early in the cruise.

I'm a single mom and I was looking at old Navigators for the Single Mingle. I found it on some cruises but not on others. I was planning on going if my cruise has one, but if they aren't well attended then you might have better luck posting on the "meet" thread for your cruise (see the separate "Disney Cruise Meets" forum) or look on Facebook for a group set up for your cruise.

I went to one on Fantasy and it wasn't fun at all. :) There was only one other person there. The CM sat with us for about 20 min to "break the ice" and then left. There wasn't much to talk about (since I am a lot older than him LOL). Will not waste the time again.

Okay so we'll peek our head in and see if its any different on this one. I figured as much…these cruises are all about family fun so I bet there are few singles and lord knows us single parents are trying to create memories with our kids and are probably going to be too busy for much time away from the kiddos. Thanks for the heads up that it might be a big nothing. They have them everyday on this cruise. Those poor CM's…but I guess its an easy assignment since no one shows up.

I've never attended any of these (20th DCL coming up, never had kids, and my DH only sailed with me once), but the only thing I've noticed scheduled every day was a "Club 18-21" gathering for that age group, sometimes in an adult club in the evenings and on sea days a lunch meet in an MDR.

Then on sea days I've sometimes seen a "Singles Lunch" (adults but no age restrictions) in an MDR, usually at 12:30 (seemed to be about 15 minutes after the "Club 18-21" one started). In the Navigator it said it was for singles, single parents & solo cruisers. If I thought there was anyone anywhere near my age, I'd have attended. :rotfl2:

haven't been to one, but have seen them listed lunches on each of the cruises and then a meet that seemed to be in cove cafe in afternoon. I did talk to one of the cruise staff who was there for one that no one showed up too:rotfl2:

The irony is that the fear of no one else showing up or of being twice (or more) the age of those who do show up is probably the main reason people don't attend.

I accidently got seated at the table for the singles lunch because when I came in neither i or the table mates from dinner that I came in with said anything to the host about wanting to sit together. I ended up at a table with a bunch of other ad one of the activities CM who tried to plan the rest of our day for us. i kind of just ignored them as much as could.

I would have joined the others but they got sat at a table for four and there wasn't space to make it five where it was located.
