Single, but will not make solo trips

Suzie, you go and enjoy your trip, by yourself, for I most definitely agree, that it is a far better thing to do, then sit around being bored off of your booty, while waiting for a friend or a relative to go with you.
When it comes to dining alone, I would suggest not going to any restaurant that caters to romantic couples, I for one, don't care to be the wallflower, as it were, in a setting like that, so I steer clear of that type of dining experience. Otherwise, I don't really have a problem with it, and if I am beginning to feel a little self conscious, I just remind myself, that I am being ridiculous about it, not to mention I will see others dining alone as well, and I am not any weirder looking then they are! ;) seriously. In the end, it really is a matter of what your comfort zone it,if you will not be able to enjoy your dining experience at the time, then order to go, or dine elsewhere. Just try to be comfortable in your dining experience, because you really should not feel self-conscious at all, if you don't mind my saying so.

Thanks for the warm thoughts! I should have said something, but the truth is I was young, fragile from my recent marriage ending, and just at a complete loss for words. :faint:

I am thinking about doing a solo trip in October of next year. I think my kids might hate me for going without them, but I can make it up to them with another trip! :rotfl: Yeah, one trip and I'm now a total addict! :hyper:

Gee Amy.. and there just so happens to be a group solo trip in October next year! Think it will be a lot of fun. And the great thing about it is you are not bound to it 24/7 :goodvibes (ok.. just went to click on that and the smilies list is in a different order :confused3 )

Don't even dwell on it!! You weren't stood up, and the only reason the donkeys-behind said that is because he's been stood up 9 bazillion times!!! We've all been in that fragile state of mind one time or another and once you get past that, you realize there isn't anything you can't do. My favorite thing to do after my divorce was/is to eat ice cream for dinner, and walk around in my skivvies! You know the marriage isn't gonna last if he's complaining you don't have clothes on!!!:rotfl2:

Solo, I love solo. I have been all over the world on solo trips. They are SO much fun. I often meet other solo travelers when I am out and about. We take turns taking pictures of each other so we have our pics in our cameras. Sometimes I have invited other solo travelers to dine with me. Or on some activity, even though I didn't previously know them.

If I waited for someone to join me for my travels, I would never go anywhere cause no one can get as much time off as I can without actually taking vacation. Only another nurse (or someone with that kind of schedule) can do that.

Sha - yeah I know thats the trip I'm seriously considering. It sounds fun! At least then I can dine with others. I usually make friends pretty easily, I talk to anyone who'll listen! :lmao:

Sunnyday123 and Gisele - thanks for the great encouragement! :lovestruc Truly I love feeling the support of others, and you all really make me feel cared about.

Suzie Zoo - Actually I made plans with my best friend to see it. We use to watch it together and she's obsessed with Sex in the City so she's the best to go with. Thanks. ;) I do need to do something on my own and I just haven figured out what yet. :thumbsup2

Hey guys, back from a long weekend.

Thanks for all the replies! I can certainly agree that I would miss out on a lot of things if I waited on someone to attend then with. Heck, this weekend I went to a movie (Indiana Jones) for the first time since January! Yes, it was with a friend. :rotfl2:

Well, that October trip does interest me somewhat. I suppose I wouldn't technically be alone. I'll think about it. Thanks for all the support, you guys are all great.

Hey, if any of you are interested in taking a solo trip near the end of January, please let me know! I really think I'm going to schedule a short trip for my birthday. I'd love to meet some fellow Disney freaks for some meals and maybe a drink or a ride on Soarin...or both.... I adore my family and my life but I'd like a break away just to be me, without anyone to please but myself, no toddlers, no pre-schoolers, no hubby, no Mom, no work, no errands or chores, sleeping late...in my favorite place in the world.

I just don't know how long to schedule it for...I don't want to be away so long that I'll be lonely, but I don't want it to be so short that I don't really get to relax and enjoy! :confused3

I'm a happily married, mom of 3 and I'm going alone in August. I love going with the fam but have always wanted to try a trip by myself, to see what I want, when I want and for how long I want. I'm excited but nervous too! As some others have said I think Disney is a great location to try out a solo trip. I know when I've been there in the past people are really talkative with each other in lines and what not. I am hoping it is a great experience!

Allyson

Allyson, I'm in the same boat and thinking of a solo trip as well. How many days did you decide on? I'm wondering how long would be best...as I posted elsewhere I don't want to be lonely but I do want to be able to relax.

I'm arriving on a Saturday afternoon and heading home Wed morning. It ends up being 3.5 days in the parks as my flight is pretty early on Wed. So 4 nights with the bed all to myself and 3.5 days to explore the parks. I already have the Keys to the Kingdom tour booked and am working on a list of things I have always wanted to do but never get the chance. I am really, really excited! Moms need a break too, I think you should go for it!

Allyson :)

Go see Toy Mania in DHS!! Almost worth going through the long line to see all the staging for it... but it is LONG (and air conditioned)!

Enjoy your trip!!!

OMG, it's an awesome tour. If you get Michael, say hi from Tracey in Canada...he was so dreamy I wanted to take him home as my Disney souvenir!!:rotfl:

Okay, here's one for you. I didn't read through all four pages of this post, it's probably been brought up by someone - forgive the repeated "concept". I'm married, have two college kids, tons of family and lots of friends.

Problem: my husband won't fly so he won't do long weekends and he can't get away from work more than once a year for any longer than the long weekend(we drive for those trips), my kids have their own busy schedules and don't have time off when I do, most of my family and friends think I'm a Disney nut and don't "get it" so they don't have the same desire to visit that I do. Those who share my love for Disney have been on trips with me/us more than once.

I have a trip booked for April 09 and as of now I'm going alone, and although there's plenty of time for that to change, I'm preparing myself (for the first time in my adult life) for travelling alone - don't know if I can actually do it - or if I do, will I actually enjoy it? I'm not going to say I don't want to.......I'm curious to know how it would pan out, just weird about it.....

Its okay if it was brought up before. There is nothing wrong with that. And everyone's experience is different but generally well enjoyed by most that I have heard from that have gone alone. :)

DeeCee735: From what i've heard on here so many ppl have such a good time going alone they do it again and again. Even thou, I'm not much of a solo traveler myself, i'm really interested in going next Oct. w/ a bunch of ppl from on here ::yes:: . Most of my to and from thou, will be all by my lonesome, I'm a lil nervous, but you have to look it as an adventure.

I figure if the worse thing that happens is I dont have a good time, no biggie, im still in the greatest place on earth, and I wont do it solo again. Seriously what have you got to lose? :confused3

TO ALL:
Look you've all turned me into a Disney Solo nut! I hope your proud of yourselves. :rotfl2:
