Just got back late last night...11pm! We had a great trip. I wanted to post and let everyone know what a great experience we had a HoJo's! :thumbsup2
Prior to arriving I had called to request a special bedding accomidation due to some health issues one of my kids was experiencing. The gentelamn I talked to that day (Jason maybe) was super helpful and said it would be taken care of and ready upon arrival.

We arrived very late one night (10pm) and the kids were exhausted from theuir day at Legoland. We were traveling with my mom who had recent hip replacement surgery. There were no luggage carts to be found and DH was going to be left hauling everything for 6 people up to our 2 room as I attended to the kids. The staff working the front desk, Greg, was awesome..like above and beyond awesome. He helped DH bring up the luggage, got my mom's scooter out of storage and brought it to her room (it has been delivered earlier in the day) and was incredibly great with the kids! I got exactly what I asked for in regards to the bed situation and also my request to be in Bldg 1, 6th floor or higher, park facing! :cool1:

The kids loved the pool although they only were there an hr on the last day but never the less they loved it! Lots of fun, towels and only a few kids!

Thank you to everyone who suggested HOJO's and reassured me when I thought of changing our reservations after other dis members had a lesser experience.

If we ever go back to Disneyland I would stay there again! I am a HoJo believer!

Thank you again!

We will be staying there too- excited that you had such a great experience! What hours is that cool pool area open...do you know?

oh wish I could remember...not certain on that one. We were there about mid day around 2-4pm. The water feature..the pirate ship was "closed" when got there. It closed for about 30 min twice a day...once around 2-3pm ish and then later after dinner hrs. Each time for 30 min. The splash pad is open as are the 1ft pool area and jacuzzi ..just not the pirate ship.

So glad to hear of your positive experience. We will be staying there for the first time next week.

Hojo's sure gets the praise but we've still yet to stay there. Big reason, cost!! I know theres deals to be had but those deals seem hard to come by on any given day. Four trips this year and 12 last year we've made and the rates were all well over $100. Retro, AP, Mousesavers and other discounts brought it down some but never under $100. Will try again in Value season but not holding my breath!

For next weeks trip we're staying at the Radisson near Knotts. $80/night for a two room suite, mini kitchen, free parking and free hot breakfast. Hard to beat!

Don't know if pricing makes a difference if you book further out. We booked Mid-January for Mid-Oct stay via AAA and we got $76 per night for the Deluxe Queen rooms facing the pool. Very excited to go after reading the great reviews!

that is great to hear.

we are going on our 1st trip and will be there at the end of september for 5 days.

what is the best location of a room ?

Depends what kind of room you booked. We always book the Deluxe 2 Queen rooms, which are in building 2 overlooking the garden pool. Nice, quiet area of the hotel, and the rooms have both fridge and microwave.

We really enjoyed our stay in these rooms as well! :goodvibes

I find they are very easy to get the discounts...just have to make sure you check their website about there entertainment plan.

From HOJO web page:

The Entertainment Card "Retro Rate"::

$59 per night + tax for a Standard Room with one king bed [NK1], a Standard Room with two oversized double beds [NDD1] or a Standard Room two queen beds [NQQ3]
$69 per night + tax for a Deluxe Room with two queen beds [NQQ2]
$79 per night + tax for a Premium Disney View Room with two queen beds [NQQ1]
$99 per night + tax for a Kids Suite with one king bed, twin bunk beds and a pull-out sleeper [SNK2

So, rates of under $100 are available...you just have to plan your days around when these rates are available, if possible. :)

We have stayed in all of the rooms except the Kids Suite. All of them have their unique charms. In November we stayed in the NQQ2 facing the garden pool. I think this was our favorite. Next week we will be in one of the NDD1 rooms, our 2nd stay in this type of room. We have also really enjoyed the NQQ1 on a previous visit. We absolutely love the skylight, but understand why others may be less enamored with them... And the grounds are always impeccably kept. :thumbsup2

Can't wait for Monday!!! :banana::cool1::yay:

We stayed there on Spring Break on our way back from Arizona. We had a Deluxe 2 queen that faced the garden pool. We were lucky enough to be able to get a room (the hotel was full and we only reserved the day before). The beds were so comfortable!

Every trip I check all the rate codes found here and elsewhere. Each time, the bargain rates under $100 are not available. For instance, we will be there this coming Friday thru Tuesday. Best deal with AP rate was $120 for standard room and that was checking several weeks ago as well as just last week. I suppose planning months in advance might have better luck but DLR is almost always somewhat last minute for us.

Our next trip will be Sept. 29th - Oct. 2nd. and website shows no rooms available.

For us being clost to the park even if we had to pay over $100 for the room was WELL worth it! I can only comment on what a wonderful experience I had there! Worth every penny! :cool1:

If we had young kids that needed midday breaks at the room then a hotel within walking distance would be very helpful indeed! Once you have to drive even a short distance it makes little difference if its 1 mile or 5 miles to me.

We've been staying in a large two room suite the past few trips. $80 or less per night. Saves a ton with hungry kids since it also includes a hot breakfast buffet. Its worth the 5 mile drive for us.

That said we have stayed onsite at WDW. To me thats a huge advantage since we have no rental car and Disney has free transport anywhere you want to go and they have resorts for all budgets.

I agree, you definitely have to plan your visit around the dates posted for the Retro price...you can't just wing it at the last minute and hope to get these rates. :) But for us, we come from such a long distance, that spur of the moment trips are unlikely, especially with airfare so high for us. Right now, we have planned to come the last few days of November and beginning of December, but if the cost of flights doesn't come down we won't likely come. Even at $59/night for the HOJO, it will cost us $675 EACH to fly return to LA....Here's to hoping for a seat sale!

Thanks for the report - we'll be there this saturday for 8 nights. Can't wait!!
