James Brown is battling a medical condition that could cost him the use of his legs. The 69-year-old star has been diagnosed with severe circulation problems and diabetes. Brown is said to be refusing to undergo the emergency surgery which could save him.

A friend said, "James has ignored his health for years. He has diabetes and his legs are giving him a lot of problems but he hates doctors." Brown's manager has confirmed that the star has diabetes which went undiagnosed for years. At a recent concert, Brown had to be helped from the stage and had to use a wheelchair at the airport afterwards.

James could be losing more than just his legs if he doesn't take care of himself soon :(

Very sad! I hope he gets the necessary surgery.

I'm sorry to hear that. JB is so cool. [refraining from tacky reference to James' classic "Get On The Good Foot"]

This is sad because diabetes can be controlled and it isn't that difficult if you put your mind to it. What saved my leg when I shattered it besides a great doc was the fact I keep my blood sugars in strict control. If it had not been for that I could have lost my leg. In fact, my doctor expected that I would end up losing my left leg. Well Wednesday, 6 months to the day, I walked without a cane to my class at the community college. And next Saturday I plan to conquer the stairs at Tarzan. I'll probably use the cane for safety but I will conquer. And I have not done stairs for over a year.
