Since when did being a jerk become a theme park strategy?

When we went in 2011, we didn't see Fantasmics. It's not my favorite show anyway, but the main reason is that I despise leaving there. It's down right scary getting out of there with young kids. It's the worse layout.

Our kids want to see it on our next trip and we'll do it. But, I'm telling you, I dread exiting.
It's been over a decade for me since doing Fantasmic at DHS, so I'm not sure how things are now. But my basic trick to getting out of the late night shows is to go with the flow as it exits, trying hard to stay together, but work my way to the side of the exiting crowd. That way, you only have to worry about rudeniks pushing past on one side of you, and if there's a store open, you can make it inside and catch your breath.

The idea is that being one of the last people out is far more relaxing than trying to be one of the first.

. Was the world going to END if you got a drop of water on you or your spawn? was your child a gremlin? I just shook my head and chalked it up to people being excited about Disney.
I laughed out loud so hard that the people in my office thought I was choking! Thanks for the laugh

as to the casey's corners incident: the ironic thing is there is a restroom right next to it! between it and crystal palace.

A few years ago i got ran over by an elderly woman on hoveround from behind and she punched me too. Her family came up to me and apologized though.

This is something that I noticed was significantly different in DL. People literally calmly filed in and out of places...it felt bizarre.

California! I attended show on the west coast recently and noticed the tranquility too.

No personal space at all and it was super uncomfortable to feel her boobs on my back but I wasn't going to budge. She finally gave up after trying for about 5 minutes.

This is when I tend to lose my balance and step back on my neighbor's instep. I may be in flip flops, but I can put all 200+ lbs into a small area when I'm off balance and have to try and regain it. I've done it in grocery store lines. I've done it in amusement park lines. I've done it in crowds at conventions. I'm just a bit unstable on my feet, apparently. I'm really apologetic after I've crushed their foot. They tend to give me my space afterward.

I never get the point in starting complaining threads like this. You aren't going to change these people's behavior.

It's thinking like this that has helped to create and fuel a lot of the obnoxious behavior that we all see on a daily basis.

My biggest issue lately are the people recording with their ipads. Reason one, REALLY you're going to block everyone else?? Two, Ipad video quality isnt as good as you think. Are you really going to re watch that? AND if so, there are about 30 different youtube videos that are likely much better than yours.

During our last trip I wasn't pleased with some of the footage I shot and I took someone's youtube video and spliced it into our home movies. Don't tell anyone! lol.

I see an appalling example set by many parents today of the 35-45 age crowd. So many were raised by parents who told them they were so super special and no one should be telling them what to do that they bought into their own press. They need to learn that you don't always get to be, or have to be first. It's not a contest and there is no prize at the end, not even a trophy or a certificate.

But EVERYONE gets a trophy, right? :teeth:

I am Disneys biggest fan......but the new system of FP + and MB's and ADR's, all booked months in advanced kinda create a feeling in guests that they have to rush, run, push, stove, manners be dammed, to make sure they get everything they have planned! The planning all done in a *just in time* pace.

Factor in the size of the crowds, scooters, strollers the size of a small car and its fast becoming a unworkable system.

I realize that some guests feel they are Entitled to act this way anyplace and do, it seems the new Disney parks system has made thing worse.

AKK

Ok, Lisaloo, you'll hae to explain this one. I'm sure opening day wasn't like it is now.

No different from how people behave everywhere. I never get the point in starting complaining threads like this. You aren't going to change these people's behavior.

I think sometimes you just need to vent, especially when you have high expectations for a vacation and you have bad stuff happen like that. We have been many times, and they have all been good trips but some just had that vibe of stuff going wrong. The more times you go, the more likely you'll have something go wrong! Here is the best place to vent, because most of us understand that aggravation.

I feel you on the selfie sticks. That"s just like the "move all the way to the end of the aisle" thing. CM's can say it til they're blue in the face, but people will ignore it and do it anyway. Annoying.

Feel your pain. When my son was still in a stroller we were leaving Fantasmic. Thought I had waited long enough for the herd to pass by. Nope, as we get caught in the rest of the herd someone rolls their stroller over the tire of mine to get in front of me. Which by the way was as far in front of me that they got bcz of the crowd. Couldn't believe it. People you're on vacation, slow down and enjoy.

NO NO NO they must GO GO GO. They have made binders and plans and then plans about the plans. They have saved every nickel, dime and penny, THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING! It's really sad that people have become this obnoxious. Fantasmic is a crazy area after the show but if everyone just slowed down they would get out in a better order. I do wish that there was a separate exit for the stroller area so you don't have to kinda back track depending on where you parked.

Same here. Am a big guy at 6'3, 250 lbs- and people that push and shove anywhere near me tend to get the short end of the stick. Unlike you, though, I don't apologize. If they are brazen enough to attempt to invade my personal space without an invitation and with the intent to 'weasel' their way in front of me for a parade (as an example), then they deserve whatever 'karma' (yeah- let's call it that :) ) comes their way. It works out well for my wife, as when we are going through airports, exiting a park, etc.- she just stays behind me and the way is 'magically' clear for her to continue ahead (WDW is such a magical place, after all :) ). We tend to walk at what we consider to be an appropriate pace through places like airports/ parks at closing, etc.- and we don't experience many issues (used to be a bouncer and am ex-military, so must have some sort of 'vibe' coming off me), but the issues that we do have don't usually end well for the offending party. My biggest problems come from things like when you are seated (not much leverage when seated in a chair...) on the railing an hour or so ahead of time for Illuminations at La Cantina de San Angel- and people try to wedge in between your table and the rail- or act like they are your best friends and try to sit with you- just amazes me...
