Since we can't find Disney Dollars. What is everyone doing?

I am saving all my change and will just cash it in and buy a load of DD when the new ones come out. All my other extra cash and ebay money will just go on my trip till it is paid for.

I was bummed cause I like to pick up a few here and there. But I guess it will be fun to buy a few hundred dollars.

Both my stores said they will get some in the end of May. Who knows maybe I can pay off another 300 or 400 on my package by then.

Unfortunately we are going in April, so we will be bringing travelers checks instead of the Disney Dollars. Oh Well

Our trip is the last week of April. I plan to get travelers checks from AAA before leaving. Once we check in I'll get a few DD from guest services.

We're going to give DS one of those gift credit cards. You know ... they look like a credit card, but act as a debit card. You put a certain amount of $$ on it and that's what they have to spend. We love these and use them more often than we do Disney Dollars. Our bank doesn't charge a fee for them, so that's a bonus!

**Note -- you do have to wait about 12 hours until it's activated. You can call the 800 # on the card to check if it's ready to use. **

I have a Visa AOL Buxx card. I am testing it to decide if that is what I want to do for us for Disney. That would be a great way to have DS regulate what he spends. Plus with AOL I can get an email for everything he spends.

I am not going till Nov. So I will be able to get more Disney Dollars by then.

DS13 will be getting (5) Disney dollar fives that I had saved up towards our meals instead of the usual (25) ones that are hidden in plastic eggs

as far as "savings" I called and charged more for our rooms

We're putting change in Easter eggs and letting the girls fill up their banks with the money they find. Once the banks are full, we'll convert them to DDs.

Note: We went to our Disney Store today and they said they expect the DDs to be back in stores on May 5th. I'm not sure if that is all Disney stores or just ours, but I thought I would pass the information on.

We're doing the change in Easter eggs as well. Not a huge deal except for the young neices and nephews--they are getting Chucky Cheese tokens--they need to have something they can use--the older kids can wait, but the little ones need to be able to utilize their "gift" .

HELLO!! STOP!! If you are getting bank cards, that is fine.... but they don't take Disney gift cards in the parks! The only place they take Disney store gift cards is in the World of Disney at DTD. Just thought you might want to know that !.....................P

You don't need them -- some people just like to get them because they're fun (you can spend them everywhere at WDW) or to keep themselves from spending cash that they've saved for the trip (i.e., if it's converted to Disney Dollars, it can only be spent at Disney).

BTW, if you're going in July, I would seriously get at least your hotel booked very soon!

I actually got $20 of Disney dollars off ebay (2 $10 bills) I ended up paying $26 for all of it so that I could get it priority mailed. I didn't maind paying a little extra either because I really wanted my girls to have some disney money in their baskets! I guess I may do that one more time on Ebay (for my younger dd's birthday) then after that hopefully disney store will have them in!

I received my disney dollars today from Fed Ex.. I ordered them on Wednesday via Fax and received them today..and they still charged me $3.00 for shipping but thats OK it's only a McDonalds lunch..We do not live near a store even if they would have them..The phone number I used to fax my order to was : 1-407-566-5645..My first order I used snail mail but now I will use the fax..

Just a suggestion for those of you that put DD in Easter Eggs or baskets. Since I can't get the DD before Easter, what I did was take a DD that I had kept from a previous trip and made color copies of it. I will stick those in the eggs to hide and then when the stores get the new ones in I will go buy those and switch them.

I found a way around the DD famine. My mom lives in Ocala, FL and works near the Disney Information Center so I keep sending her checks and she gets me DDs LOL.
