Since so many people have fotl access

Will I have to purchase a fotl pass (not staying on property) just to keep my waits reasonable? I'm going in mid-May. And can I purchase it at the gate, or do I have to do it over the internet?

You can get regular express passes for free. It works just like the WDW fastpass system where you place your ticket into the express pass kiosk. It then gives you a choice of two times to return and prints your ticket. I wouldn't think that mid-May would be real busy but you never know. HTH

The lines shouldn't be bad. Get there as soon as the park opens and you should be fine.
