Are there resorts that do not elevators? If so, which ones?

If you book one of these resorts, are you guaranteed a first floor?

Because, as we all know, ECV's don't do stairs :goodvibes

ADA requires any hotel with more then 2 stories have an elevator. Yes you can request a first floor for medical reasons in a 2 story hotel.

Caribbean Beach, Alligator Bayou at Port Orleans Riverside and Old Key West all have buildings with 2 floors which do not have elevators. As Michigan posted, they are not required for 2 floors or less.

If you want to stay at one of those resorts, just request first floor for medical reasons. Many people actually request 2nd floor because they like the view or don't want anyone above them. So, even without a request, chances are 50:50 that your assignment will be first floor anyway.

POR has evevators in the Mansion buildings and OKW does have 3 newer, taller buildings with elevators.

All other resorts do have buildings with 3 or more floors and do have elevators.

A couple of times at POR I have been assigned to a second floor room, but it was quickly corrected when informed that I use a powered wheelchair and could not be on the second floor without an elevator.

Yes, forgot to mention that.
When you check in, make sure to ask if the room assigned to you is on first floor. If it's not, they should be able to take care of it right away.

At POR the Alligator Bayou rooms do not have elevators and the mansions do. In the mansions the elevators are in the center of each building. Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace have regular rooms and Oak Manor and Parterre Place have Royal Rooms. Last month our Royal Room in Parterre was on the 3rd floor right next to the elevator. It was a great location whether you have an ECV, stroller, or not. Thought this might help when making a request.

I need a first floor room due to epilepsy. Height will make me seizure. I also have an ECV.

The ONLY place on WDW property who would not honor my request was an All Star. They gave me a 3rd floor room, and told me to use the elevator. I tried to explain, but they would not listen. We had already prepaid, so getting our money back was quite a hassle. And - we had booked preferred.

No other resort has EVER treated me with such disrespect. I will never stay at that certain resort due to this problem. I can still hear the man - "First floor is only a request, not a requirement". For me, along with my neurologist's letter, it really is a requirement - but that was not important to them.

Every time I see an advertisement for one of their 3 resorts, I am reminded of that nasty man. And - we had stayed at an All Star twice before that!
