since i go mid august, does that mean i miss all discounts???

We're planning to go Aug. 10-19 specifically to avoid "free" dining. We'd much rather have 35-40% off the room rate, along with the flexibility to eat where we want, when we want.

since now they saying free dining is aug 25th.... im checking in on 8/10....does this mean im left out w/any discount? this is crap.... cant believe have to pay full rates....this is getting expensive.... cant change dates because DD starts highschool soccer on 8/20........ i want some pixey dust!!!!!!!!!!

You have to remember, schools in the Northeast go back to school around the 23rd of August.

Traditionally many people take their summer vacations in August. So the two to three weeks before the 23rd are already fully booked and they don't need many discounts.

35-40% off room rate is awesome, especially for the deluxe resorts!
Don't forget though that UK was offerred FD that starts 08/15 and bounceback FD starts as early as 08/17. The crowds in the restaurants will probably start to pick up well before 08/19.

Did you already have any reservations? We're going early Aug. I've been calling every few days or so I amped it up this weekend. Really hoping for FD but I'm wondering if I jinxed myself already booking a room only When I call, I say I'm looking to book for 10 days naming a different resort, they'll look up my info & say, "Oh, we see you're already booked a room only" to which I acknowledge & say, "Yes, but we're thinking about adding 3 days & rebooking at a mod & changing it to a package if there's a pin attached to our household

They're very nice about it, they'll go check & come back with the same sad news, nope, no pixie dust for us I don't know if I can do this everyday, did you really call every single day? The constant no's are so discouraging

I was holding out for FD until I booked. If we didn't get a FD pin we were thinking about staying offsite (UGH). It so random how pins are sent--I just wish they would some how make the process easier/more consistent...

I honestly do not recall ever staying onsite and not getting 35-40% off the rack rate. Maybe a couple of those early Dixie Landings stays were AAA, but definitely every deluxe stay has been at least that much off.
