The salary and benefits for the people who work at MS are paid for in our membership dues. In a normal transaction, a member makes their reservation and arranges for requests, etc. If they are going to do this and then rent to someone who is also going to call and go through the transaction again, DVC members will have to pay for twice the staff to cover what is actually the same number of reservations.

Someone who rents from a DVC member (or receives it as a gift) should think of it as renting someone's vacation home. You deal with the member/owner -- you don't need to deal with Disney/DVC directly.

MS has actually been quite lenient and does confirm that a reservation has been made when someone calls. MS is open only on weekdays (and not some holidays) from 9:00-5:00 Eastern time and I think it's until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. MS's phone number is (407) 566-3800. If your parents would like, they can share the 800# with you.

Pam, I make reservations, changes, requests, etc on Dee's membership all the time. Dee gave permission for me to do all that years ago.

excuse me if im not a DVC expert and offended those who felt threatened by my vent...

i wasnt trying to get you to not sleep tonight.....nor do i care if u do or not

Just because we disagree with your "venting", does not mean we feel threated by your post. Most of us think you should be a little more grateful for a wonderful gift and stop complaining about a few inconveniences you've encountered along the way. Maybe you will feel differently if you just take a minute to actually consider what your parents have given you - many people would love to have the "problems" you have.

I'll second Happy Birthday Cat's post.

everyone is so secretive about this DVC ressie number
Like myself, what is a person to do if they have rented points?

DO i not have a right to call and talk to someone at reservations cause im not an "exclusive" member (yet at least)

This morning i called this sacred 800 number to do just that..After all if it is MY reservation NOW why cant i call them to request/change something?

WIth all the money we all pay, especially those in DVC why in the world is this place not open weekends for simple customer service.

Im left hanging now that the weekend has finally come where i can relax and plan out my trip and i cant even do that

they arent exactly winning me over in my decision to join this..

hmmmm....... lets see

"secretive" " "exclusive" member " "sacred 800 number"
"WIth all the money we all pay,"
"
"Im left hanging now" "they arent exactly winning me over in my decision to join this.."

hmmmm....you were the one that came to the dvc dis board with the attitude, not us :o

of course we are going to defend the DVC, maybe if you dont like the DVC rules maybe you should stay with cro and pay cash .

I'm a little fuzzy on the powers of an Associate. It sounds like an Associate gives you kind of "power of attorney" to act as a member. This makes sense in husband/wife or other family set-ups.

"secretive"....cause this number was actually refered to as secretive from another post.....so dont blame me for the attitude

"sacred 800 number" cause that seems to be how everyone is treating it...thats not my attitude...the boards attitude
ya know other people have questioned this....So i suggest you go through em all and flame them too for they so deserve it like i did

you do pay alot of money dont you? Wouldnt you expect Customer service to be there for you when needed...
Why is it that CRO is open all the time and pay the same to them as i would DVC..
Are DVC reps gods or something

Im left hanging now being a sarcastic terming of being let down
not copping an attitude cause they werent there...
Here let me rephrase that..."Shucks....I really wish I couldve gotten ahold of member services"...Happy now

I just came across this thread, and I MUST make one comment only. The "sacred 800 number" is not made that way by this board, but by DVC. We are not supposed to give it out. That isn't a Dis board decision, but a DVC decision.

I know....i know....>I was merely referrring to it as sacred cause it is not known and was making fun of it as if it were some 007 thing....

i understand it wasnt made by this board...but its not as secret number as u all think

at the DVC page it is public....thats where i found it....so maybe they sould remove the number for breaking their own rules...

Im done with this....everyone is gettin so damn uptight

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have had enough of these personal attacks on other posters. You are reminded that DIS guidelines prohibit the attack of other posters.

Yes you are intitled to your opinions, but you can word them in a manner that does not flame or belittle another posters.

Again, I remind you that failure to adhere to the posting guidelines can and will result in the loss of posting privileges.

As this post no longer has anything to do with answering the OPs question, it is now closed.

Being an associate gives you the right to call MS just like the member and do most anything else a member could invluding making reservations and exchanges. It doses not give one the discounts or free valet parking benefits.
