I am addicted.

I've been looking through the threads, in awe at all the beautiful pictures captured! For 3 days now, all I've thought about was how I can't wait to get a good camera and make a trip down there.... I wanna grow up and be like ya'll :)

Yep - the DIS boards are what started me looking at DSLR's too!

Yup - I can relate. I can't wait to grow up and be like all the folks on here either. :goodvibes Welcome to the club!

(It was the photos by mathew_hull and Zackiedawg on the Resorts board that got me started. :))

The Dis photog board has cost me about $1000 in camera equipment. But it has been worth every penny! This December will be my first trip to the World with my new DSLR and I can't wait. I'm hoping to plan a solo night to go to MK to just do some pictures. The Dfamily get very annoyed with me stopping every few seconds to take pictures. I keep telling DH I didn't spend all this miney on the big camera to point and shoot. I need to point, compose, check settings, recompose, then shoot. :rotfl:

I blame WDWFigment. His night shots are amazing! And GDad. Everything he does is awsome. :worship::worship:

I can't wait to see some of your pics!! I've seen GDads, Evads, Mark Barbieri.. those are the names off the top of my head that are like 'Wow'.
I have noo clue about cameras... settings, composing etc. I'll have to totally get some advice when I have the extra cash to put into a camera. I've always only had my cheap little digital, or disposables
My mom finally got me a Nikon Coolpix digital, which I love so far, except the delay is pretty bad from click to flash, so I miss alot of shots.
But, hopefully I'll learn more here. In the meantime, I'm addicted to this board!

Yes, you have been bitten like we all have :lmao:. Welcome!

There are so many talented photographers on this board to blame for my obsession!

I think if I had a good camera, this shot could have been amazing with clarity :

and... this one I just took out in my yard with my new digital...again, nothing fancy. It's a Nikon CoolpixL18 (whatever that is...lol)

with that one..I was just happy that I actually caught the 'kiss' in action

I so want a good camera!!
I walked outside a bit again, trying to find neat things to photograph, like some things in nature I've seen in other pictures around here, but my oldest DD was still at her bus stop, so I didn't want to embarrass her, so I came back in :lmao:

That's what zooms are for. ;)

My kids are so used to having their pictures taken, they automatically look and smile when the camera goes up to my eye. The funny part is, so do all their friends and teammates now, too. :lmao: They know I usually send them links, frame the good ones and give them out, etc, so they've come to enjoy it.

Usually once you "get into it", you start to read and practice some more. Read all kinds of things about photography, even old books because many of the same principles are the same whether it's film or digital. I like to go to used book stores and get all kinds of neat photography books. A book that comes pretty well recommended here is Understanding Exposure; I saw it at Borders last week.

As for the family, mine knows to just keep going (granted, the kids are a little older now so it's easier for us). Sometimes we all have cameras and go our separate ways, LOL. It just becomes a way of life, as in "Mom's taking pictures, she'll catch up to us later".

Fortunately or unfortunately depending on if you are looking from the fun side:thumbsup2 or the financial side:scared1: there is no known cure for this affliction. Symptoms can be temporarily relieved in the purchase of some new gizmo, gadget, lens, camera body, tripod, etc etc etc but its a never ending cycle. The best thing to do is grab a seat, strap yourself in and hold on popcorn::its a fun ride sure to be enhanced by all the talent and wisdom you will find here on the this board to take you as far as you want to go with this hobby. :yay::yay::yay:

Your kids DESERVE a parent with a dslr. It's for their future!!

Come to the darkroom side of the FORCE.

I can't wait to get a good camera and make a trip down there....

You can still take some great pictures with a P&S. Getting a dSLR will only provide you with a tool to take better photographs. The biggest variable is still the photographer.

Thats IT!!!

Since I started coming to this board almost 4 years ago I've bought 2 dSLR's, 10 lenses, a flash (and 2 diffusers), 2 external hard drives (to store all my photos) a new computer with HiDef monitor (to properly edit and view all my photos,, :) )5 extra batteries (for 3 different camera's), 3 camera straps, 10 SD cards, 4 CF cards, a card reader, opened 3 online photo sharing accounts (have since closed 1 and don't use another, so I'm only really using 1 now, which is not a free account now based on my needs) and I'm sure I've forgotten some stuff.

I would hate to see how much joining this board has cost me,,,,, BUT!!! I would do it all over again. I have had (and continue to have) a blast being a member of this board.

Some of the best people to have as companions in our photographic journey though Disney and life.

You definitely learn a lot have a lot of fun on this board. :cool1::cool1:

One of things I LOVE  about my DSLR is that when you push the shutter button it takes the picture. No more delay. I used to miss so many shots of my kids because of it. Ocassionally I'd get lucky and catch something I didn't expect. I highly recommend feeding the SLR addiction!

Bear in mind, I only got my DSLR about 6 or 7 weeks ago. Since then I have gotten 2 lenses, 1 backpack gear bag, 7 SD cards, Understanding Exposure book, but my wish list gets bigger and bigger the more I read up on here. I'll keep you posted as I add to my collection!

Yeh, I'm up there, too.

Since hanging out here, I bought another point and shoot/printer combination (recently sold at a yard sale), then moved to a bridge camera (bought two, one of which is on loan to BIL right now), then a dSLR, several lenses and the many things that go with it, some a couple of times over.

I'm currently thinking about cameras for both my kids for Christmas, and probably need a new bridge camera to keep in my pocketbook since my current is having technical difficulties. Not to mention all the books, software, bags, etc.

But most of all, the TIME I've put into studying, shooting, editing, etc. :scared1: All worth it in the end, for sure, but kind of scary to think about.

Oh yes, and the friends I've met here - priceless!

Colleen from your post above I would stay away from any post from Ann. She is the worst enabler on this board!!!!!:lmao:

That is my story and i am sticking to it!

Gosh! Why am I always getting picked on? It makes me so depressed. :sad2:

I think I need to go buy myself something to lift my spirits. ;) :rotfl:
