...I thought I'd join in.

This seems pretty minor and sort of dumb to call my doctor about, so I thought I'd see if y'all have any thoughts.

I was carrying a 12-pack of diet coke into my office at lunch, and all of a sudden sharp pains started radiating out from the side of my elbow. I put down the diet cokes, but the pain keeps radiating off and on. I have a pretty high pain threshold, but this really hurts off and on quite a bit. It's like a sharp, sudden pain that then goes away for a few minutes before starting over. I'm hoping it goes away ASAP on its own, but I thought I'd ask you guys if you know what on earth it could be. I hate to be a big baby, but it's enough to make me wince and draw in short breaths until it passes.

No real idea, did you bang your elbow at all? nerve issues cause lots of pain. Hope you feel better very soon!

Thank goodness it stopped! I mean man, that was seriously hurting for a while there. It was making me sweat and turn a bit white (and if you saw how pale I am normally, you should see me when I turn a bit white, LOL!).

Sounds like my tendonitis/tennis elbow. I'll get this quick, sharp stabbing pain like being stuck w/ a big needle, and then it stops. Mine get aggrivated every time I carry a gallon milk jug for more than a few seconds.

Try taking soem Aleve and see if it goes away. if not, then the doc can give you something a little stronget or a cortisone shot. People say they hurt, but I barely felt mine (same w/ the one in my knee).

I agree that it sounds like tendonitis. The tendon gets irritated and inflamed and hurts like crazy. I've had it in my elbow and both wrists. When it acts up, I get pain ranging from sharp, shooting pains to a dull ache. Motrin or another anti-inflammatory usually helps as does compression from an ace bandage or elastic brace. If it really bothers you, you'll probably want to see your doctor to make sure it's not something worse.
