We'd been reading about the new Kwik-E-Mart that recently opened in Lake Buena Vista, and, being Simpsons fans, we went there today to check it out. It definitely had a lot of Simpsons decor, and the signs out at the gas pumps said that there were 4 Simpsons items: the pink donuts with sprinkles, Buzz Cola, Krustee O's, and Squishees. They were sold out of Buzz Cola and Krustee O's, but we saw the pink donuts and each left with a Squishee.

This place is located right outside the Downtown Disney Resort area, just across from the Sheraton Safari, if anyone is interested in going there. We have several pictures & a full review on our dining journal:

Wow, they sold out of the cola and cereal quickly! We were there the day after it opened. It was pretty cool.

Great pics and dining journal! Thanks for sharing.

Was the store still pretty heavily guarded? When we went, there were 2 sheriff deputies inside the store, and a cruiser outside.

I posted mine in the DIS vmk community board if you're interested in it http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1506148

Great pictures, lovethattink! You took a lot more than we did; we were wondering whether we would be allowed to photograph inside the store, which is usually not the case, so we were conservative on the pictures :)

There weren't any police officers at all when we were there, which I guess is a good thing! Maybe they were worried someone would walk off with the big plastic characters.

Cheers!

Tara (DD10) and I stopped in on July 4th after being at Magic Kingdom for a few hours. It was fun, and then later that week we went back to MK (Tara really wanted to go to Kwik-E-Mar more than MK I think!)

People were totally crazy over the merchandise. I've not been a big Simpson fan for years, but it was easy to get into it! Most were stocking up on at least two of everything!

DD LOVES the pink donuts, and we both had blue squishees. I still use my Marge cup to drink my iced tea. Tara also thinks that the Krusty O's taste better than regular Fruit Loops! Luckily our neighborhood 7-11 has the pink donuts so I don't need to make the 1/2 hour drive for her "fix"!

Both times there were two O.C sheriff's in the store. With the crowd that was in the store both times we were there, I am sure the extra reinforcement was on purpose. I know our local 7-11 is an "outpost" for the O.C. Sheriff, and at least one cruiser and sheriff are in the store many times when we go - not a bad crime area, just a busy traffic, shopping, area.

Since I am another Simpsons fan, next month when my family and I are in WDW we might stop there just for fun. However if we don't it's not going to be a big deal since it's just a convince store with Simpsons characters so you can take pictures and some of their items for sale from the show.

I think that's the point of it - to be a convenience store modeled after the one on The Simpsons.

Did you know that Universal is replacing "Back to the Future" ride with a Simpson's ride??

Just a quick FYI, you can (or at least could) buy Buzz Cola and Krusty-Os at any of the 7-11s around town--they sold out fast at the "Kwik-E-Mart" one, of course, but still saw some this weekend at the Westwood Blvd. store.

The level of detail at the store is amazing--down to the shirts the clerks wear! I was in there a couple days after the changeover, and a woman walked in and asked, "What happened? This isn't a 7-11 any more?" Saw plenty of people snapping pics, I don't think the staff mind at all--it's turning the place into a tourist attraction!
