SimonV's Review of Shrek 4D

I skipped to the end to see the 2 thumbs up! I don't want to know all the details before I (HOPEFULLY) experience it for myself in 19 days or so!

DD, I did the same exact thing!! As soon as I read (CAUTION! Major attraction spoiler follows!) I skipped down to the two thumbs up! :bounce:

I just called Orlando to confirm the Memorial weekend opening for Shrek 4D and they told be that was for California only. They said Orlando's opening is still "June". They wouldn't give me an exact date. My daughter is going to be bummed.

I've told my family not to expect it - but maybe we'll be surprised!

Not clicking on this review is killing me. Glad to hear it's a 2 thumbs up tho.
Hope there's a pre-view on Memorial weekend!

Me Too. The wife wants to drive up for Memorial Day weekend since we have Monday off. But I'm not gonna do that if Shrek is closed, then opens the week after we're there. To the suits up high, please open Shreak Memorial Day weekend.

Hi folks! I've just noticed an error in that story which I need to correct (due to not reading their press release properly and believing everything their PR guide said!).

The theater capacity is only 496, which seems quite low for a building of that size (especially when you compare it to the theaters used at Disneland Paris's Walt Disney Studios for their Animagique and Cinemagique shows, which both hold 1,100). Attraction capacity is officially 1,200 guests an hour, although that is hard to break down as you would think it should be 3 x 496 as it is a 7-minute pre-show and 13-minute movie. It was the PR person who insisted itnwould be a simultaneous opening in all three Universal parks, but their press release does say memorial Day for Hollywood and just 'Summer 2003' for USF and Japan.

Hope that makes everything make sense!

It really is a fabulous attraction though (much more interesting than the new Jimmy Neutron ride, IMHO), and fans of the original movie will be in for a real treat. The humour is just as fast (especially from Donkey) and the storyline wonderfully funny and in keeping with the original theme.

Simon - just a question here: Did you notice or do you know if there are seats that do not move? Or perhaps a section where wheel chairs are allowed - for those who can not have movement ( somethimes US movement is really jerky..) this would be a great attraction for those who could just watch and get something out of it too. Just wondering?

Jimmy Neutron has stationary seats and so does Terminator (even though there is not much movement in these seats). I'm sure Shrek will have them too.

I must admit I didn't notice any specially set aside seats, but I am assured the attraction is fully accessible for guests with disabilities and those in wheelchairs and, to me, that means specially reserved areas.

I'm not going to click on the review. But thanks for it anyway. I'll wait till I get there in October.

Can't wait!!!!!

P.S.

THIS IS MY 75TH POST. I HOPE I'M A DIS VETERAN NOW.

HOORAY FOR ME!!!!!!!!!

I didn't click either.

You know, BGT also has a great new show called Lighthouse4D which is really amazing. I saw it at BGW. No, I won't give away the spoilers.

Hope the "insiders" tell us when Shrek4D will open to the Public.
Hoped it would open by Memorial day, but it looks like that's not gonna happen.

Seems like all the shows (USF/BGT/SWF) will open in June. Darn, Memorial Day weekend would have been nice. To the suits, this proves there is a "season", and the rides need to be ready early in the year. Hint, open the Mummy coaster in early 2004. Market it to the people up north and they'll fly down to ride it.
