Sky News have (deliberately I guess) picked a particularly unflattering shot of the ubiquitous Mr Cowell which seems to reinforce the popularly held perception that he's a self-serving, smug so-and-so. I actually have a lot of time for him. He's achieved success through hard work and tenacity, starting with little more than self-belief and a strong work ethic. His public persona has taken on a life of its own and is largely contrived to boost ratings. In reality he is very kind and philanthropic and those who really know him say he is hugely loyal. That certainly seems to be borne out by the fact that he has never had an acrimonious break-up and remains good friends with his previous love interests. Even when Nigel Lithgoe accused him of stealing the American Idol format for the X-Factor, they remained friends. I'm not claiming that he's a saint and he certainly has one or two quirky traits, but much of the criticism levelled at him in unfounded. As I always tell myself - someone else's good fortune is not my bad fortune and I don't begrudge him his success.

I certainly wouldn't bet against him in his bid to rival Disney.

I agree i really like the high waist trouser man and really enjoy watching him I dont think he will get any thing as good as disney im sure it will be good but there is just a love for disney that no one can replace

I agree. If memory serves a lot of bankers laughed at the Disney brothers when they went searching for loans to build Disneyland. The bankers told the Disney brothers that their concept would never get off the ground. Guess who's laughing now? I wish your fellow subjects the best of luck in their new venture-Disney needs some healthy competition.
