we are from the UK and would like to pick your shopping brains
Are there any other supermarkets that are on par with Walmart for quality and price? Also we love TJ max but the store in Orlando seems a little bare right now and I love the ornaments and nik naks that they usually do. Is there another type of store that does similar products?:confused3

I like Target better than Wal-mart. Sometimes the prices are a little bit higher but definitely better quality IMO.

Marshall's is basically the same as TJ Maxx, I think they are even owned by the same company. You could also try Ross.

Not all Wal Marts have full supermarkets only the supercenters,as far as what other stores are similar, Target and Kmart are similar,Targets are much nicer but a little more expensive, they also don't all have full supermarkets.Kmarts are horrible so avoid them, more expensive than Wal Mart or Target, few if any have supermarkets and most have never been updated.I shop at both Wal Mart and Target.

As far as TJ Maxx,Marshalls and Ross are the same type of stores,I like TJ Maxx the best followed by Marshalls,Ross is like the Kmart of these stores, avoid them if you can, most of them look like a hurricane went through them, the aisles all look cluttered up and lines are always 30 minutes long.

Homegoods is owned by Marshall's I believe and you can find a lot of the same things there too.

For ornaments and knickknacks you might also see if there is a Tuesday Morning anywhere close. Burlington Coat Factory is another.

Ditto for Target! We're very excited that Target is finally coming to Canada, they're taking over select Zeller store locations over the next few years. We're hoping that they bring in their full product line ... and (wishful thinking) US pricing :goodvibes

Aside from the previously mentioned places... there is a Beals Outlet in Orlando on Old Vineland road... it is in a dumpy looking shopping center but it is a true outlet at cheap prices... mostly clothing but some other random stuff... Not sure but there was also a Nike outlet in the same shopping center.

SteinMart is a cross between TJ Maxx and Macy's, I think. I wouldn't put WalMart and TJ Maxxx in the same kind of store. Target has a selection of more upscale looking things than WM. Marshalls is the same as TJ Maxx and Homegoods just has the home decor items of TJ Maxx.

Also, Pier 1 has great home things

Homegoods, Marshells, A.j. Wrights, TJ maxx is all own by the same company.

Wow we had such fun at Targets and Marshall; great advice.Onto the next stores soon.:cool1:

Tuesday Morning is better than Homegoods IMO and looks like they have several locations in the Orlando area.

I had never heard of A.J. Wrights so I googled them. Found this http://www.aj-wright.com/index.asp Ross, Marshalls and TJ Maxx can vary depending on the location. Ross and TJ Maxx near us are both new and in a nice area. The Marshalls is in a no-so-nice area and is a lot dirtier.

Aj Wright was part of TJX corporation which owns HomeGoods, TKMaxx, Marshalls, Winners, and HomeSense. AJWRIGHT was similar to Ross and in more Urban/ lower income areas. There were closed permanetly or converted to Marshall stores. HomeGoods is basically the Home department at Marshalls or TJMaxx but just at a larger scale.
