Has anyone used this service at AKL? I am really neurotic about leaving DD with strangers. We are debating it for our next trip (DH wants to do it...I'm not sold yet). Thoughts?

We used the Mousketeer club at GF while we ate at V&A's.. CMs were very nice and friendly, DD5 thoroughly enjoyed herself, ate more of her dinner than she normally does with us, didn't want to leave at the end of the evening and was disappointed that she didn't get to go back later in the week... facilities at Simba's looked even nicer but we never got a chance to use it.. we ran out of evenings :(

We did this with our grandson when he was 4 and he loved it. No separation anxiety when we left, and he hardly noticed us when we came back to pick him up. Same experience at the Sandcastle Club (BC) the next year. From what I could see, the kids love these clubs.

I used it with my twins last year and thought it was bloody wonderful. Parents need time off too. My kids didn't want to leave when I went to pick them up. And they asked to go back the next night. I found the CMs very reassuring.

The fact is Disney is a lot of standing around and waiting in a line. Its gets old for kids too. They need time to unwind, do some imaginative play, have some free play, interact with other kids, etc.. It frees them from the regimentation for a little while.

Questions to think about: Does your child separate easily at school? Is she completely potty trained?

There is also in-room babysitting if the above is negative.

DD is only 1 so we are not at that stage, but I wouldn't hesitate to take her to any one of their clubhouses. If I'm gonna trust anyone with my precious first born, it'll be Disney. :) And I can see her now - she's gonna run off to play there without even a goodbye!

We are planning on doing it in May. My boys are 6 and 8 and they are excited about it.

Thanks gang...keep your thoughts coming! DD is 4 and has been potty trained for over 2 years so that isn't an issue. Sadly, she separates very easily from me :( She's been going to day care since she was 3 months old and started dance lessons at 2. She now does swimming, dancing, and skiing lessons and has never had a problem separating. Anxiety about this is COMPLETELY mine! Mind you, I don't know what DH and I would actually DO during the free time...but it would be nice...we are going for 9 days so a break might be nice for a couple of hours...for all of us. How do you book this service? Do you make advance reservations?

Reserve just like restaurants through WDW-DINE - cost is $11/hour - dinner from the normal kid menu included, you get to choose at check-in ... they take a cellphone number and ask where you are going... they give you two receipts and in theory they will not release the child without both receipts, although the night we were there was so quiet that they remembered us and the bureaucracy was dispensed with on pick up... You and DH should book dinner at Jiko for the same time
