Silver---Stinks!!!!

2 day cruise prices are insane. A Cat T for 2A/2C is $3900. For 1 sea day!!!

The sick thing is with the NYC people, it will probably sell out.

With all the other cruise options already available from NY, Disney is really going to be stress-testing their competitive ability to demand a premium. I'm not convinced yet that everyone there is frothing at the mouth to pay mega-bucks for a two day taste of the mouse, particularly when they can go on much longer voyages on the likes of Princess and Cunard for the same or less....

...we'll see how this plays out once the frenetic DIS CC groups all finish their 1-2 day rush to get on these sailings.

wow didn't realize that being a silver i could not even get a quote today. I know I can't book until tomorrow. So even if I called my TA I still cannot even get a quote until tomorrow? Anybody know how that works?

Sigh..what stinks about silver, is we are treated like the general public. It also stinks that I have had 25 nights on DCL, but am still just silver because it was only on 3 cruises. If I had done five 3 night cruises I would have had 15 nights and been gold .

I agree! I'm only at 14 nights (EBTA 2010) but I'm scheduled for WBTA 2011 for another 14 nights and will STILL be a silver! This is torture! I want to do the Hawaii trip so badly - another 15 days and still a Silver. That will be 43 days on board (if I can get a reservation tomorrow) and still at a Silver level.

I guess I just need to keep doing more cruises. This is worse than waiting for Christmas!!!

Agreed. I've spent 20 nights onboard, and will add another six in three weeks, and I'll still be silver after that. I wish it was by number of nights spent onboard rather than number of cruises. I could be getting close to platinum if I'd done 3-nighters instead of a 14, a 2, a 4, and an upcoming 6.

I agree that silvers should get a day on the general public.

I've had 31 nights on DCL and I'm still a silver!!!!

Wishing we could cruise more, but we can't afford the airfare that we usually have to buy to cruise.

The problem with waiting is that the prices really do go up. My TA couldn't even guarantee I'd get the same prices as the Platinum and Golds did today. Silver Sucks....I've been on 2 cruises (one Western and one Med) - both cat t...I have 2 more booked (one fully paid for) also both Cat T and I don't have the priority that someone who has taken 5 3 day cruises in a CAt 11 does.,....totally unfair system....I hope Disney gets a lot of flack about it.

I guess this is why Disney has started asking people about the right way to structure the Frequent Cruiser program -- it really does favour the short-haul guys over those on the seven-day and longer.

I suspect, however, that all levels will be grandfathered once the new rules come into effect. (And I'm sure they will.)

totally agree about silver. I haven't done as many days as others that still are only silver, but my cruises were all suites, cat r and cat t and none of that is taken into account. It's kind of sad to have no booking privileges over gp after that.

It's all about preference. I for 1 would not sail Cunard or Princess. My daughter would be bored silly. And so would I for that matter. For family cruises I feel Disney gives me the most bang for my buck. I think it's worth every penny. Again it's all about preference.

Though I do agree that the system can improve, I don't think it should matter if you cruise in a royal suite or a bat cave. I'll stop there before I say something I'll regret.

There aren't many suites to begin with. I don't think the prices will change that much on the suites. This is not an expert opinion but an impression from tracking them on various cruises over several months. I have seen Magic, Dream and Fantasy suite prices fluctuate on time of year but while I saw movement of other categories as the ship was filling, the suites didn't seem to change. I could of course be wrong.....

Good luck getting your suite tomorrow. There are 2 royal, 2 two BR and I believe 16 1 BR suites on the Magic. I'm sure there are enough left after one day. My suspicion is that many gold and platinum members who have done that many cruises are very savvy, take advantage of on board re-booking discounts and dummy dates which they like to move around like game pieces on a calendar. They get great bang for their buck and are less likely to be booking suites with large deposits and less flexible shuffling of reservations. Just my impression from reading these boards the past few months

I agree. Looking at it just from the economics, if someone booked 3 staterooms for their 6 or 7 family members, they would want 3 cruise credits, and no one would even dispute or argue it. So why shouldn't someone that booked a R which has 3 bedrooms for their 6 or 7 family members also get 3 cruise credits?

I also don't understand why they consider it more loyal for someone to sail with them for 15 days, over someone that has sailed with them for over 40 days? Number of cruises is an important factor, but so are other things.

I'm sure DCL wants longer cruise and suite guests also, so why not reward them appropriately so they want to continue to spend those longer cruise and suite dollars with them.

We were going to do the 2 day because it left on one of my "big" birthdays....when we found out the price, we bagged it. It was $4K for Cat T for 4 of us....cat 4 was like 3K....I have friends that went on the 10 day med cruise for $1k per person.... The 8 day is costing a little less than the 7 day western on the Fantasy for the same week I already had booked....not much though. It's hard to give you prices because everything depends on the the week your going and the cabin. They were expensive though.
