Silver Springs

Just wondering if anybody else had been?.

Weve got this on our schedule to do, but was just wondering can we justify the $32.99 adult and $23.99 children entrance fee.

Can anybody give any feedback on this?, it looks really nice, but is it worth the fee .

If you do go, go on a weekday! We drove up there a few years back to enjoy a quieter day out only to find that there was a Country & Western band performing there and the place was so packed that there was no car parking - we turned round and drove back to Orlando This was on a Saturday. ( At that time, I don't think they charged entry just to enter the grounds but only for the boat trips - it looks like they've become much more organised now and added more to do).

We did Silver Springs on our last Florida visit in 2001 and we really enjoyed it. It is a complete antidote to 'theme parkitis' and you see Florida in its natural state. We found it to be not too busy and food prices were refreshingly reasonable. Do not expect to see the frills of Disney here - it is wildlife and springs in all their glory. Put it this way, we had just arrived and I was waiting on the decking while my son visited the restroom and a member of staff strolled past me with an enormous snake around his neck -
I HATE SNAKES! Anyway, even I was fascinated by it (from a distance) and you will see crocs and 'gators and all manner of creatures from a very close distance. They also do a whole programme of live shows which feature birds, crocs, and fairly large creepy crawlies (tarantulas actually). Well worth a visit!
