When my port adventures etc. window opens I'm going after either mixology or a cabana on the adult beach. I'm thinking at silver level I have no shot at a cabana so mixology is the wise first choice. anyone disagree and think i can get a cabana?

I mean this really depends on which ship you're on honestly. If you're on the Magic or Wonder they have less people so your chances are slightly higher.

I wouldn't count on a cabana as a Silver level. Its possible but I wouldn't hold your breath. Mixology there is a good chance you can get it

Personally, I don't really see the big draw to the cabanas so it would be an easy choice for us.

The Magic & Wonder no longer have fewer concierge cabins than the Dream & Fantasy, so the total number of people onboard the ship is unlikely to make a difference. Most cabanas are snapped up by concierge. With platinum & gold passengers then getting a shot before silver, it's extremely unlikely that any cabanas will be left over by the time you can book.

If you have a cruise meet thread or social media page, you can ask a gold cruiser to let you know if there are any mixology spots or cabanas left on your particular sailing. There has never been a cabana spot available for silver when we cruised but I did get mixology once as silver!

If this is one of the cruises this late summer/early fall your cabana odds may be better as I sense a lot of people are tired of disappointment and are waitingfor an official announcement from DCL that cruises are returning to book.

Our cruise is November 6-11
Hmm, hard to say. Your silver booking day would be August so it’s possible they’ll announce a return to sailing date before then and everyone will start booking. Or not. Hard to predict anything.

The double dip? Us, too. Not likely to get a cabana, but give it a shot. Mixology may fill up, but in the past there have been more opportunities to book onboard.

As silver members, being able to book a cabana on the adult beach happened to us when sailing on the Wonder … and booking as soon as the window opened. It was the last one available.

It always surprises me how cabanas are popular on DCL while on other cruise lines, they rarely sell out. If I was the boss of DCL I would built so much more cabanas! There is a lot of money to make there.

I don’t think it’s that surprising at all. DCL customers are a lot more price insensitive (they have to be, to pay double on DCL what they could pay on another line), and are in it for the premium experience. It’s why concierge always sells out—if not before the cruise, then through port upgrades.

As critical as I can sometimes be of DCL, one thing I value about them is their relative commitment to the environment, including Castaway Cay. I think they've done a great job of not completely disrupting the island ecosystem by overbuilding it.
