Hi all!

We returned Sunday from 5 nights at Silver Lake Resort-Silver Points and 2 nights at the Swan/Dolphin. I know there were a lot of questions about Silver Lake, as there aren't many reviews out there....

We checked in on Saturday, a day later than the date on our reservation. This was no problem whatsoever. I contacted the resort mid-week to alert them to the change and to check on any damage from Hurricane Jeanne. The front desk clerk reported that the pool was closed and should be open when we arrive, which it was. Our unit was a 3 BR/3 BA that sleeps 10. It was actually 2 units--a 2BR and a 1 BR lockout, the configuration was a little frustrating for us, as the units weren't really connected, they were separate of each other. you couldn't get from one to the other without leaving the "A" side and going to the "B" side, which had to be opened by a key. It would be great for people travelling together but need a certain amount of privacy. Each bedroom had a king sized bed, and in the living room of each side there was a sleeper sofa. We didn't use the sleeper sofas at all, so I have no idea if they are comfortable at all, LOL...The bedrooms were carpeted and had plenty of storage space as well. The master bath had a jacuzzi tub with a shower stall. The counters were very spacious. I don't remember how much tiolet paper & soap was provided, but was plenty for my family of 5. we never ran out :teeth: The master bedroom also had a screened-in porch, but we didn't use it at all--the view was of the parking lot.

The living (as well as kitchen and bath) areas were tiled and were quite clean when we checked in. The kids feet weren't really dirty at all after running around barefooted. The kitchen had pots, pans, etc. Ours didn't have a skillet, but I brought one from home. I don't know if it was supposed to be provided or not. I also brought a baking stone to use to make cookies and french fries. I didn't see any type of bakeware at all....maybe a piece or two of pyrex. We had 5 packages of dishwasher detergent and a small bottle of palmolive. It lasted all week. There was a one-use box of Tide in each unit as well.

We enjoyed the plasma TV on the wall, although the sound could have been better....we had a DVD player and VCR in each of the units, which was nice. There was no stereo system. The decor was lovely, browns and creams. Very homey feeling.

It was a nice resort--we would definitely return. The location is FANTASTIC. We were 25 minutes from the parking lot of our unit (building 800) to the gate of the Magic Kingdom, ehich included parking, taking the tram, and riding the monorail over. That was great! The AK is much closer, less than 5 minutes via Sherbeth Road.

The pool was good, but kind of plain. There were activities, but we didn't take advantage at all.

Thanks for your review of the Silver Lake Silver Points!

My family will be there for Christmas week in the same 3 BR that sleeps 10. I agree, the configuration does sound frustrating. It's great to know how close we'll be to the MK and AK. I'm really looking forward to our stay!

One question--does each unit have it's own jacuzzi in the master bedroom--i.e., one in the 2 BR and one in the 1 BR? About how large is the 1 BR would you say?

Thanks!

Thank you for the review, Madge. It's nice to hear about Silver Points. Glad you had a great trip!

:D

sounds like you had a nice time. Glad to hear it. I would love to stay there sometime.

Could someone prop that door open that is between the two units or would that not work??

I would also like to know if the 1 bedroom had a jacuzzi. Thanks.

Welcome Home.:wave2:

there was only one jacuzzi tub, in the master bath of the 2BR unit. the bathroom in the 1 BR was nice....just no jacuzzi.

it's possible to prop the doors open, which is what we did. sometimes we used a towel and other times we used a chair. Our problem is that our toddler thought it was fun to run all over the place, LOL....we were afraid she'd escape out the front of the unit. Each unit has its own door...there's a little entry hall from the main door and you enter the units from there.

thanks for the review madge....

the unit number on our certificate is 8101AB, thus it is probably gonna be like the one you had...

we are looking forward to checking silver points out in december

we were in 8206AB--I imagine you have a view of the lake, since your unit is an odd number.

building 800 is great! the back gate that opens up to Sherbeth Rd. is right there. Just watch your speed....lots of cops on that road ;)

Madge - thanks for the info.

Lawgs - you must have booked through Skyauction? It's funny you mention unit 8101AB, that's exactly where we check into next week!:teeth:

cheese head ( are you from wisconsin )

yes it was a rescheduled september vacation with skyauction....

we are looking forward to this in december

please post back what we can look forward to....

sorry for tardiness....we were away in branson missouri for 10 days, just got back today....

Hi lawgs -

Yes, we're from Wisconsin (how did you guess?) Hope you enjoyed yourself in Branson - we've never been but hope to someday.

I'm going to make this short because I've tried posting twice and keep having problems. Madge described everything perfectly, so we don't have much to to that. We did have an odd-numbered unit and had a view of the small lake. That was nice from the screened-in porch. As madge said, the location is awesome and the units were large, comfortable, and clean.

We didn't have any problems with booking through skyauction, we did get a different unit than the 8101AB listed on the certificate. Maybe that's just a number they use for any booking they do. We were in 8205AB. No pressure for attending a sales pitch, guest services just mentioned a breakfast you could attend for discounted tickets, etc., but certainly didn't push it.

I'm sure you'll have a great stay there in December - let me know if you have any questions!

I have been looking for a web-site with floor plans for Silver Lake and Silver Points but with no luck...Any web-sites out there with pics and floor plans ?

Thanks

The 3-bedroom condo floor plan shown on www.silverlake.net is pretty much the layout of the new Silver Points units, a 2-bedroom with 1-bedroom lockoff. There are a total of three king beds and two sofa beds rather than the 1 king and 2 queens listed on the site. Everything else in the description is the same, except there are VHS and DVD players in the great room of both units. Hope this helps!
