We won a certificate on Skyauction and need to choose between a 2 bedroom at Silver Lake or Wyndham Cypress. They both sound very good. We have a 12, 10 and 8 year old who love to swim. We are going in November and will be spending 6 days at Disney, 1 at Discovery Cove and a few at Sea World. What do you all recommend.

Thanks in advance!
Lisa

We were at Silver Lakes several years back. It's located just around a long block from Animal Kingdom - very convenient. We liked it okay. The older units are in 3-story walk-up buildings, closest to the main pool area, very spacious and they have a rather dated decor with too many mirrors. The newer buildings are taller w/elevators but the rooms are smaller and you could end up in a room that overlooks the busy side road (Sherberth) that everyone uses as a back road to Disney. This place has a really large game room for the kids and a huge fitness center for the adults. The pools are good too.

We've been to Wyndham Cypress Palms 3 times in the last 5 months. I've go back in a second. They're redoing all of the room interiors, were ~2/3 done in March and I'm guessing they'll finish in 2008. Two warm pools and hot tubs, free popcorn in the activity center, fitness room, no bad room views (all pool, pond or flowery landscaped courtyard) and quiet but easier to walk to restaurants, shopping, etc. The only negative would be if you had a 1BR w/partial kitchen - but you'd have a spacious 2BR - very nice. This would be my first choice of the two - especially since you plan at least a couple days doing non-Disney things.

We have stayed at both and prefer Silver Lake. We travel with DS9 and he loved the game room more at Silver Lake and it is closer to Disney. No highways to manuver on the way over there.

Loved the pool area at Silver Lake and they had a snack bar with fast food and drinks. It was so convenient to have that for those pool days. The food was good and reasonably priced too....

Let us know which you pick@

We had the same choice for our October visit. Based on website views, gas prices through the roof, and tripadvisor, we chose Silver Lake over Cypress Palms. We spend 60% of our time at Disney, not having a 12 mile round trip offsite drive through traffic will help. There are many good restaurants not too far away, and the mandatory Giordano's pizza stop is closer.

I really don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Hi:
We loved both! I don't think you'll be disappointed with either one. I did think the customer service was better at Cypress Palms. When we called for something even as simple as a vaccuum bag or extra towels, the staff at Cypress Palms was right there.

We liked the pool area better at Silver Lakes. The bar was poolside for snacks and drinks.

I've stayed at Cypress Palms twice and love it. We are going back there in a week and again in October. I've never stayed at Silver Lake so I can't say how it compares. I like all the good eating spots near Cypress Palms and Walmart is only 5 minutes away. Also, Kripy Kreme is in the shopping area right in front of the condos!!!:cool1:
