Silver Add on Package...is it worth it?

I'm getting ready to reserve a five night stay at the Animal Kingdom resort (Savanha view) from Monday, April 12 - Saturday, April 17 (saving about $500 by going at this time versus in May).

My family consists of my wife, my three year old daughter, and myself. I have a hard justifying the silver add on package which costs $67 a night per adult and $54 for a child. That totals $940.

We would use it for dining only. Now I haven't been down to Disney World since 1983...so I'm sure things have changed. But $940 for two meals a day for five nights for the three of us? It sounds absurd to me. Would I be better off just paying for meals down there myself? I will be packing breakfast bars for breakfast (minus one morning where we plan on going to a character breakfast). So we would just be needing two meals a day. Would we be spending $188 in food down there a day?

Anyone have any lunch/dinner receipt totals that they would like to share? Just trying to get some sort of an idea on what I should expect.

Thanks.

Thanks, Sue...that's exactly what I needed. Based on what we plan to eat, this Silver package is not what we need. We can do better "a la carte."

Thanks again!

I am almost certain that the child rate dropped as of 1 Jan ($35 a day is in my head but I can not find the exact figure now). Also remember that the "wishes" include tax and tip.

Based on your personal plans wishes can be used for more than just food (a night in one of the childrens clubs or 2 wishes to see Cirque)
