Silly Question from DH

This question is for my DH. I know, I think he's nuts also to want to watch football while at Disney. But, he feels he just cannot miss a Bears game. Does anyone know if there is any place to watch football at the resorts? We will be there over Christmas and, of course, big rival game on Christmas day that he feels he cannot miss. I thought maybe ESPN, but we have late breakfast ressies and early dinner ADRs on Christmas, so I was hoping DD and I could swim or explore while he watches his game. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help. I want to ease his mind. He's like a 5 year old when it comes to the Bears. :sad2:

ESPN is probably your best bet! There's something like 12 games on Xmas Eve so I'm not sure if they'll have them all, but it's worth a shot.

Just had to comment though... on your thread's title... aren't MOST questions from a DH silly??? ;)

your post made me laugh!! typical man<: i also agree espn would be ideal...take the time with your daughter to go the world show case maybe? you two can get some serious shopping done while hubby watches the bears win!!

You husband will have plenty of company! No way that man of mine is going to miss the Eagles playing Dallas (can anyone say Terrell Owens) on Christmas. Not even for mickey. I'm just planning on having him fork over his credit card!

You're lucky the game's in Dallas, because if it was at home he might have cancelled your trip! LOL

GO EAGLES! :cheer2:

You might have trouble with ESPN. We tried to catch a Ravens game there in November 2005 & the lines to get into the bar & restaurant (2 different lines) were insane. The lines do not move. Unless you are willing to go to ESPN early & sit there all day - you don't have a shot at getting a seat.
My suggestion is what we did for playoffs in Jan 2002. There is a bar at the Contemporary - great bar with a lot of TV's - I can't remember what it is called (Orbit Bar maybe??? i don't know) , but it is right near the restauarants. We had a great time watching football there & it wasn't crowded at all. There was the bar, plus tables with comfy chairs & sofas. Your DH could monorail over while you & your daughter swim (you're staying at the Poly, right?). Of course, he could also watch the game in the room, but that is not nearly as fun as being around other football fans! :goodvibes

oh, and GO RAVENS! :thumbsup2

Does the television in your resort room not have channels that show NFL games?

I know you get ESPN (owned by Disney, right?) in the room & local channels

I would suggest ESPN or a bar at any of the hotels. I am sure the bartender wouldn't mind putting the game on for your DH.

We were there in July and DBF is a HUGE Yankees fan and when we went to ESPN he had the waitress turn the tv that was facing him on to the game...I feel your pain :rotfl:

We tried the in the Hotel bar thing at POP for one sunday game and they wouldn't turn it on that early! Be prepared! I take DH to the ESPN club at 10:00 and we play all day and he enjoys football all day!

I'm sure they do, but they might not show the game(s) disqueen2's DH wants to see, depending on what's shown locally. A place like ESPN would have satellite links to more games.

I had to chuckle with this thread. It is me that would be looking for a football game like your DH...BUT...while I am at WDW even football doesn't matter. Give me THE MOUSE!!!!

I just remembered the name of the bar...it is called the Outer Rim. Perfect spot IMO ..............GO RAVENS! :goodvibes

Thanks for the great replies. I am checking into ESPN in our room, but since the game is Chicago vs. Green Bay, DH is worried it won't be shown on tv in our room. He is a nut for the Bears and is growling like a bear right now as Arizona is beating our guys.

We will definately check out ESPN and also the Outer Rim at the Contemporary, which is a quick ride (I think) on the monorail from the Poly.

We must have married long lost twins... While we were on vacation in Sept the Bears opening game was on. So my husband decided that he would go to the ESPN zone to watch the game and I decided it was time for a shopping trip with out my husband. The ESPN zone is a great spot for him to be. The game is actually on the 24th against Detroit (I wanted to by tickets but have to work) Have fun and go Bears. I think my husband has turned me into a fan. I actually turned on the game tonight and he wasn't even home. He would be so proud.

Great thread! My DH has been asking me the same thing, and we aren't going for a year! He goes into a decline if he has to miss a Broncos game, :sad2: so it's good to know there are options while we are on vacation!

I personally, even being of the male persuasion, have never quite understood the fascination with football. Grown men in extremely tight pants, bending over playing with balls and slapping each other on the bottoms has never been attractive to me. These grown men are also paid way too much to play childs' game. I'm glad I choose to spend my time at WDW(and at home) with PrincessFontaine rather than her losing her husband to football games. That being said; I am glad that WDW provides places for people to watch these games. Just because I don't like watching doesn't mean other people should be denied the right. Also, the more men in the bars watching football(or other sports for that matter) means theres more room for me in the park and many less grumpy dudes to deal with. I think it's a great idea that they are planning on turning Disney Quest into another ESPN place. That'll give all the 'guys' room to be macho, drink beer, watch football and be generally...well...men. :teeth:
