Three things. Which buildings have the lifts? Is there 3 floors or two? Does tge washing machines take powder or can I bring the liqued tabs?

i believe that only 3 OKW buildings have elevators - 62, 63 and 64.
however, you can request first floor, if you don't want the stairs..
there are 3 floors i think...

Blocks are 3 floors - we opted to be upstairs and it was fine.

I think they reserve rooms in the elevator blocks for people with mobility issues - let them know if that is the case.

I used liquid which I bought over there.

Thank you. I stayed in 25 last time but cant remember the number of floors. I wnt be going grocery shoppin over there so i will get the liqued from here.
Dont want ground floor which I think they call 1st floor and did ask for 2nd or 3rd . My mim does hv mobility issues but we needed the 2 door entry to the bathroom and wasnt sure which numbers had the 2 door entry. Not planning to eat at OKW except when swimming at main pool I just requested near a bust stop high floor . Been so long cant remember. ;)

If you want the 'dual entry' into bathroom then you need to be in a building numbers 30+.....only know as we need the same when we go next year :thumbsup2

Hi Crabbie1 I'm looking at Okw for next urine September as the prices with free DDP are pretty good, I don't see hardly anybody that posts on Okw and was worried about what the place is like I see you have stayed their before he did you find the place? I'm so scared of making a mistake by booking here! My kids love Pop and we did Akl last yr and loved that apart from the foodcourt much prefer Pops... Any thing you cn tell me would be much appreciated,p.s I think you helped me last yr when planning Akl :)

OKW is great, in my opinion. You are right, it does not seem to get much love on the boards! It is the oldest of the DVC properties as it was the first one opened but all the buildings have been refurbed over the past year. It also has the biggest rooms of all the DVC properties as well. The "themeing" is much more low key compared to the Value properties and not as "in your face" - this may be a pro or a con for you depending on your preference. We were there this past May and will be returning in May 2012 - with the current 45% off the room rates AND free dining AND $150 gift card offers which can be all combined it is absolutely a no-brainer, as far as I am concerned!!:thumbsup2

Oh Hi I remember.:lovestruc .There are lots of posts on here especially if you go on the resorts board they have an OKW lovers thread.I can't remember how old your kids are but I would say the theming is not really kiddie orientated. My DD also still loves pop at 9 and I think would still prefer to stay there BUT from an adult point of view the accomodation is far superior and with the freeDDP makes it much more appealing and a much better deal and does in fact work out cheaper.I havent stayed there since the refurb so I will be interested to see what the refurb is like plus we are staying in a one bedroom this time compaired to the studio. However if it was just the 3 of us I wouldnt hesitate to stay in a studio as they are huge. We are doing our second stay after the cruise at AKLV which I love and so did DB.
Where did you stay in AKL? Was it in jambo? The food area at OKW is tiny and just a counter. There is a resturant called OLivias but never eaten there and is quite expensive compared to the other disney resturants. However DTD is very near and we tended to go there. If you didn't like mara I doubt you will like the counter service here. The pool is lovely and so are the small pools. A lovely relaxing resort.Have a good look into it.I cannot say it is nicer than AKL as we all like different things but a lovely resort .

We have just got back from 2 weeks at OKW and can't wait to go back. Rooms 30 and above have double entry to the bathrooms. Don't worry if you are on the ground floor as nearly all the balaconys look over quiet areas and the front door face the road. We were in 3321 which was right by a bus stop.

The theming is much less Disney than other places. The food to go was limited. Next time we would have breakfast in our room and possibly cook some meals. There is a Walmart nearby and we like shopping there. The washing machine took both powder and liquid so I am sure liquid tabs would work.

All the CMs we dealt with were typical Disney, very helpfull and very pleasant. We rarely used the busses but there always seemed plenty around.

The issue with the ground floor is the lizards. I hate them would never hurt one just dont like them. We had ground at SSR and didnt like it.
Where is the nearest wallmart to okw? We wnt hv a car but willin to get a cab. Are there any resturants like ponderosa sizzlers etc near it as was thinking of goin after arrival to get some things for breakfast.
Glad you had a good time. Our first time in a one bed so looking forward to it.

We've stayed at OKW for almost all of our trips for the last 11 years. Once we'd tried it we never really wanted to stay anywhere else, we love it! :cloud9: We've never had a bad location and we've stayed in a studio, 2 bedroom, grand villa, but we've never stayed in a 1 bedroom. I'm sure that you'll love staying there. If you need a building with an elevator just let them know they will be happy to accommodate your request! :goodvibes

Not long now! :banana::banana:

Lizards We saw a few on the outside of the building on both floors but never inside.

There is a Walmart in Turkey Lake Road about 10 minutes from OKW.

There are various resteraunts at Crossroads and there are also some on the 192 near the Sherbeth Road end, definately a Ponderosa, Dennys, Sizzler and Bob Evans
