Silly question about water rides...

I fully intend to wear a poncho on Kali River Rapids and Splash Mtn. It's just the husband and I, so we're trying to pack as light as possible for the parks. I'll just have a small purse, so although the poncho will fit, taking extra clothes/shoes is not gonna happen.
So here's the silly question:
How do you keep your feet dry?
The idea of having soggy socks & shoes for the rest of the day seems miserable.

I always wear flip flops or boat shoes to the park so that probably doesn't help you. The one time I did wear gym shoes I took my socks off before the rides and went sock-less until my gym shoes had dried out, which didn't take too long in July. But I have seen people tie plastic grocery bags around their feet :rotfl:

On Kali I actually switch to flip flops & stick my sneakers and socks in a plastic bag for the ride. Since you don't want to carry extra I would just take off your shoes & socks quickly when u get in the boat & go barefoot. ( I actually did this once before)Though I wouldn't do it before boarding because I think they would actually frown at the bare feet haha.
I don't remember wet feet being much of an issue for me on SM.

On Kali there is a rail around the circle that you can place your feet up on, and they are not only out of the pooled water but sheltered a little bit. If you have a dime store poncho, that will protect you even more.

Then I hand the poncho to someone else in line as I exit!

The whole point of this ride is to get wet. I would suggest not riding.

We wear flip flops but just to let you know you are required to keep your shoes on for the ride so just put your feet up on the bar and they should be fine. Also plan to do Kali last so if you end up soaked then you just leave after.

flip flops for Animal Kingdom.

Splash Mountain doesnt get your feet too wet. Ive ridden it before and not gotten any water on me... save what was in the log already.

I always wear flip flops. And you don't keep your feet dry. I will warn you though if you truly do not want to get wet, don't get on this ride with or without a poncho. You may do okay, but even with a poncho DH and I have both been soaked on this ride. Last trip I didn't bother with the poncho because I knew better, but DH who did not want to get wet used it and went on. He was just as soaked as the rest of us because it the water came in at such force it went right up underneath and down through the hood as well. He was not happy.

It all depends on where you are in the raft, poncho or not.

Wear flip flops or crocs. When we go in the summer, it's blistering hot, so a Kali soaking is a welcome relief.

I don't think it's the point at all. I love these rides because they are fun, not because I want to be soaked. Also, on Kali and rides like it, half the fun is everyone in the boat trying not to get wet and anticipating who is about to get it next. :rotfl:

As for Splash, I've never gotten too wet on it, but in December, any is a little more than I prefer. But it is my favorite ride because of the dark ride portion, and the drop is fun. I just don't want to have wet feet or be cold. The point is to have fun.

SM I have never had a problem with wet shoes. On Kali, I usually wear croc sandals or something that dries fast. No tennis shoes. If you put your feet up, they don't get too wet. Also, we usually ride this midafternoon right before we return to the resort so if we are soaked, it isn't like we are walking around drenched for long.

I don't mind getting wet, but on Kali you can get SOAKED, which is no fun. I generally bring a plastic poncho, though I generally use it for my waist and below. I don't mind getting splashed, but sitting in 2 inches of water is not fun, even for a second. Keeps my stuff dry too. Splash Mountian is less of a problem in that regard, so unless it's very cool, no poncho needed.

Thanks for all the responses.

I could probably fit flip flops in my bag, then just change into them right before Kali and then put my sneakers/socks back on after.

We'll be there the first week in May (in like two weeks, eeeek!) so I'm guessing it'll be warm enough to dry us off pretty quickly. I definitely don't mind getting splashed, but the idea of soggy shoes & socks doesn't sound fun.

Splash need the water cannons turned back on. It is simply not the same without the "risk" of getting soaked.

I agree. You can try lifting your feet up, but it doesn't always work.
Make Kali the last ride of the day, or skip it entirely.
