Silly comment about DDE card

I don't know if anyone else felt this way but I was alittle disappointed by the DDE card. I just thought it was pretty BLAH!! I was expecting a nice Disney type card. For example maybe a scene from a Disney Movie ~ like the spagetti scene in Lady & the Tramp. Something that would be a nice keepsake. May be I'm just looking at the "World" through Disney colored eyes.

There maybe some who would argue that the card is designed to show itself thur 'disney colored eyes'. It takes elements that have been/are representative of the F&W Festival. Disney (I'd think) wants to show the DDE as an upscale, trendy, vouge sort of thing with class & style. Not, a "classic" sort of thing. But hey, if you aren't happy enough with the 20% savings, you could always slap on some sticker of Mickey & Minnie!! :teeth:

I agree with DVCConvert, I thik the card looks pretty "classy" considering mine arrived in theme-cordinated envelope. Remember, it was originally marketed to locals to encourage them to dine at Disney restaurants when they were entertaining guests or business associates.

It doesn't mean I wasn't a little surprised that there wasn't a mouse on it somewhere, but it is a very elegantly designed card.

Actually I am happy with it - now if they could make my darn AP plastic I wouldn't care what came on it!!! :)

It's amazing....

We love the DDE card, thank goodness it isn't character based. Disney has everything character based..ugh. Love the upscale adult card!!

I too like the card. I think it is attractive. I love the program itself and am so grateful that we can now purchase it as AP holders.

But I'm not sure how a plastic card can be upscale! :rotfl2:

Oh I 'm very happy with the 20% but I guess I expected it to be like the park tickets. I agree that I wish the APs were plastic , I'm worried about how it will hold up for a whole year.

We've had APs for some years now and they have been that material since we've been getting them. We've used them for up to 40 days/year and had no problem with APs wearing out. Occasionally one becomes demagnetized or whatever. I actually like this material since the APs take up less room.

But an acquaintance of mine showed me her AP in the mid 80s if I remember correctly and it was cool! It was a picture ID like a drivers license. Don't know when that stopped?

This is completely true, it was orginally for Florida residents and was all about the food, not Disney. It was marketed as a dining club to get Floridians and locals to use the restaurants for dinner even when we weren't going to the parks. I have friends who live in the area who never go to the parks, don't like them, but they have the DDE card and use it whenever they eat at the resort hotels.

I didn't get my card until we got back from our trip.

It looks nicer than the fax that I was carrying around. :)

Well, I've already been and gotten my 20% discount...

I don't have my card yet.....probably won't for another month or two since I ordered it when we got there....

Does anyone have a picture?

silly. silly, silly...................... :confused3

I've had AP's since I was little and back then they were plastic and had your photo on the front! :) I miss those - no finger scan!
