This is of no major importance just a fun question to help me make a decision.

So I'm installing ceiling fans in a few rooms, I've checked out a few places (home depot, lowes etc) and saw a few I liked.

Then of course I went on line and saw a ceiling fan that I absolutely LOVE.

Very Old key west. (my life is Disney.)

Can you guess where this is going, lol. It's about twice the price I budgeted.
So would you stick to your budget or go with the fan you fell in love with.

For home improvements, go with the one you love because you will be looking it for a several years.

I would go with the one that you absolutely LOVE if you're planning on being in your home for awhile. It may be double the price, but the joy that you'll get from seeing it every day is worth that and much more, so it's actually a bargain. :thumbsup2

.

We operate a zero based budget, so in that situation the question would depend on where the money to cover the extra cost comes from.

But for something I love like that, I'd probably find a way. $10 from here, $15 from there . . .

the one you love.:thumbsup2 otherwise you'll spend a little less, and the next few years obsessing over the one you didn't get.:thumbsup2 And I totally buy things based on the same concept!:rotfl2:

It's still coming out of the same pot. So I'm having my basement finished, I've got a budget with 5K built in for unforeseen issues that I've been told can and probably will pop up. project running long etc. So the extra is still coming out of the remodel project budget.

Then honestly, I'd feel even better about splurging on the fan!

I'd get the one you love. Its your house, you have to look at it every day. And you can afford it.

I'm redoing my bathroom - I did skip the $200 a square foot tile, but the bath hardware is beautiful - and way more than the $60 faucet I could have gotten.

I know you love it. But do you know how it works and if it works as well as it looks??

I have seen some great looking fans but when we tested them they did not preform well. I could not spendthe money on a fan that would not preform well.

Just something else you might want to consider, as a fellow Disney addict we might over look something;)

Thanks Chris, I will definitely be sure to check it out.

wow!!
that really is gorgeous

i would absolutely go for it.

go with the one you love. If you need to justify it, we got 3 nice ceiling fans from Lowes. our builder put them in, none of them worked, we had to have an electrician come and were on the phone with the company trying to get the right parts, it was a mess. So tell yourself you're getting a better quality fan

Get the good one - you know you want to. ;) And what important thing would you do with the money you saved anyway? I'm presently trying to "recover" from my affliction of seeing petty self-denial as a virtue - the last thing I quashed because "we really didn't need it" was heated leather seats in DH's new car. I think I saved us $4 a month over the life if the lease payments (and had a 6 month long, cold Canadian winter to realize the folly of my ways). :sad2: Enjoy your reno! :wave2:

Go with the one you love! I agree, it's very Old Key West-ish!
