Say I bank our 2012 points but decide I want to go down for the Princess half marathon in February, we have an April UY. Can I use the points I banked for the trip or will I have to borrow 2013 points? I basically am wondering if once I bank points do they become unavailable for a certain amount of time? I am just worried about changing our minds once they are banked.

Once you bank them, you can only use them for stays 4/1/13 to 3/31/14. You can borrow 2013 for a stay in February.

I did that once. I also have an April use year and I banked my points in September because I wanted to make an April reservation at AKV. A few weeks later I decided to take a trip out to DL and wanted to use points for PPH (this was before VGC), so I borrowed.

You can wait until 4 months before your UY before you have to decide to bank them. So you have until the end of November to bank them. After the 4 month window you would have to use them by March 31, 2013 or loss them. I would think by November you may have a good idea if you ware going to go in February. If you think you you might be going for the marathon, you should probably reserve at the 11 month mark. If you decide to not go, cancel and bank the points by November 31st.

When you bank 2013 points, they become 2014 points and will expire at the end of your 2014 UY.

If you borrow 2014 points, they become 2013 points and will expire at the end of your 2013 UY.

Points can only be banked or borrowed once.
