Silliest question/comment you've heard about Disney?

The comment i hear the most is i don't understand why you go there every year. This year is i can't believe you are going twice. I dont understand why its an issue most people i know go to the same beach every year and stay at the same hotel. I just am not a beach person im a Disney person

This happened during my last trip in August. We met my 2 year old niece and her mom, and grandparents there. They stayed at Sheraton Vistana and we stayed at OKW. This convo is between my niece's mom and me.

Her: I was surprised at where your hotel is bc I thought it would be IN Disney.

Me: It is in Disney.

Her: No, I mean actually IN, IN Disney.

Me: Old Key West is owned by Disney and within the gates of Disney.

Her: Yeah, but it's so close to our resort. So you're not IN Disney.

Sigh, I just let it go at that point. I don't know if she expected our hotel to be in one of the parks?? IDK... I was tired and it was a long day at AK, so I let it go .

When my aunt came back, her words "I don't know what all the fuss is about, I was SO bored" Ummm, HELLO????

This happened to my sister and I...we had went to WDW with a friend and her three boys (ages 6, 8, and almost 9)...they had never been anywhere. We get on the tram at the airport and the oldest says "where are we?" we replied "Orlando, why?" his reply "it looks so normal" :rotfl: We then asked him if he thought he was going to be RIGHT in WDW when we got off the plane and he said yes. It was too funny.

When I told my BIL he really didn't need a rental car while staying on Disney property, he angrily told me he wanted to do the safari at Animal Kingdom, and how would he "be able to drive through it if he didn't have a car?" :rotfl2:

I take it your BIL is from the northeast? Six Flags in NJ has a safari that you can drive your car through. So it's not that far fetched if he's been to that park.

African Lion Safari in Toronto does this. You can get on a tram and go though, or drive though with your own car, and the animals come up to you and such. It's a pretty neat experience.

It's so strange to me when people are so misinformed about things that are blindingly obvious to people like "us" on the DIS, then I remember not everyone is obsessed with it, crazy people!

As young adults who travel to Disney the most common thing I hear is that it's "for families and kids". I can't even be bothered to explain where we're going when people ask if I think I know what their reaction will be.

We were getting FPs and a man at the machine next to us tapped me and asked me why the FP machine was not accepting his dollar bill. I politely pointed to the sign below the machine and explained to him that FPs are free and all your park ticket is supposed to go in there. He proceeded to tell me that his friend told him that each FP costs $1 and was made that he had brought all these singles.

Haha I love this one!

My brother wanted to take his 6 year old twins for the first trip for all of them. He called me, and said , "So, do you think we will need 2 full days? Would we be able to see everything in a day and a half?? The end result of that conversation is that he is now taking his big sister(me) with him and the kids. He pays for me to go( I am broke, and he is a doctor), and I am planning the entire trip. He is thrilled, because he hates planning anything, and I am thrilled because---well----no need to tell you folks why!! :cool1::rotfl2::lmao:pixiedust::joker::thumbsup2

I spoke with a very nice lady by the pool at POP one day who was VERY excited to be going to Universal Studios the next day to see the Nemo Ride. :fish: :confused3.

Yeah...people don't really seem to understand that being at a hotel IN Disney doesn't mean that you walk out the front door and hop onto Space Mountain.

Actually, it is about an hour or so from Toronto. I would not want to take my car through there. People have been known to have damage done to their cars by animals. It has been many, many many years since I have been there. I used to live a couple of hours away.

Along the same line as this thread, I was talking to a co-worker the other day about my impending trip. She couldn't believe that we were not only going to Disney for our second trip but want to go next year. She couldn't imagine that there would be that much to see. I said, you do realize that WDW is about the size of Manhattan, give or take a bit. I'm sure that even after our 3rd trip we will still have lots to see.

The fact is, some people would only go to Disney once no matter what because they just don't love it as much as we do.

Yes, I'm dreading having to explain our 2nd trip in a little more than a year. Why should I care? I think it's because people assume you're wealthy, just like sending my daughter to parochial/private school. Determined would be the word I'd use! I think some people don't get it. The place is huge! I could go 1x every 6 months for 2 years and never get to all my to do list! I will say that my DD mostly thinks DW is MK! The other places are just the other places...Epcot, etc.;)

I sent my daughter to private school too and we went to Disney every year. She's a freshman at lsu now and this is my first trip without her (since she was 4) so for Xmas im taking her.

A co-worker said "we're not like you and don't go every year, so I'm not a planner." So she's taking her family and in-laws in 4 weeks, but hasn't made any reservations yet. She says it's "once-in-a-lifetime." No hotel, no ADRs, no tickets, no party tickets, no airline tickets. Maybe Universal, maybe not. I showed her disney.com. I said "Start here." I didn't want to overwhelm, but wanted her to know she needed to make some decisions. :confused3

^^ I KNOW!! ^^ I hear the same thing from: a couple who have invested in a one-location timeshare and have been going there for 20 years ~ my boss who has a beach house, a house in Hawaii and a cabin in Canada (they go to these places every year) ~ a woman who goes to Cabo every fall ~ and a family who doesn't go anywhere they can't get to with their RV. We love Disney!

Woohoo! Good for you! :thumbsup2 pixiedust: :thumbsup2

How could you not even know where you are sleeping!!!!

Rent a wheelchair so you can get on all the rides with no line!!

When DH broke his foot at EPCOT a few years ago, we went to pick up a GAC. The CM that gave it to us actually mentioned, "Won't it be nice to not have to wait in lines?" DH & I just smiled and left without commenting.
